RPG Maker MV Sells 300,000 Copies
Since the 1990s, RPG Maker has made it possible for fans of the genre who know nothing about coding to create their own turn-based epics. The series has appeared on the original Playstation, the Super Famicom, the PS2, the 3DS and, most prominently, the PC, where the most recent version, RPG Maker MV, was released in 2015.
Now RPG Maker MV has moved over 300,000 copies, and to celebrate, its publisher is slashing the game at a deep discount for this week only. The sale is pretty insane. Ordinarily the RPG Maker MV bundle, with everything, costs $129.99. This week, it’s $39.99 — a reduction of 70%. If you don’t care about the frills, you can get the main game for just $27.99.
Anyone with a passing curiosity can make a game on RPG Maker, and it IS legal to sell them — in fact, some successful games have been made out of RPG Maker, like the chilling horror classics Corpse Party and Yume Nikki.
The RPG Maker MV sale ends September 3 at 10 AM.
