Homelander, Omni-Man, and Peacemaker make up the first batch of guest characters in Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 1 DLC. Fans of Kombat kids can also rejoice as Takeda Takahashi joins the roster, along with classic Mortal Kombat villains like Ermac and Quan-chi. While there are no female DLC characters, the recent reveal of 2 female characters for the main roster compensates for it.
The last four Mortal Kombat games follow a theme for their guest characters. In Mortal Kombat 2011, horror characters like Freddy Krueger and Kratos from God of War were featured. Mortal Kombat X emphasized horror even more with Jason Voorhees, Predator, Leatherface, and a Xenomorph from Alien.
For Mortal Kombat 11, the focus shifted to action and comic book characters, including Rambo, Terminator, Robocop, Joker, and Spawn.
Mortal Kombat One decided to focus on violent superhero and villain characters, giving the game a unique theme.
Homelander, Omni-Man and Peacemaker teaser
Antony Starr, known for his role as Homelander in Amazon Prime’s The Boys, is set to lend his likeness and, hopefully, his voice to the character. On the other hand, Peacemaker’s appearance closely resembles John Cena, which offers a unique opportunity for fans who either loved or loathed his long-running babyface persona and refusal to turn heel. This time, they can either play as a villainous John Cena or finally get the chance to defeat him in the game, before he ends up breaking the pinfall at the three-count.
Additionally, Omni-Man, a character from the popular Amazon animated show Invincible, joins as a guest character in Mortal Kombat 1. Fans have long fantasized about seeing him face off against Homelander, as both characters represent evil versions of Superman. The hope is that J.K. Simmons will return to reprise the role as the voice of Omni-Man.
September 14, 2023 is the upcoming release date of Mortal Kombat 1.
