X-Men is'nt Star Trek, I don't have a clue what he was smoking when he wrote those storylines. As good as they were, it was'nt X-Men. To this date I still think the first 616 Universe Phoenix origin is one of the most idiotic Marvel still stick with.
X-Men: Evolution also toyed with Jean's Phoenix-like powers being just an upgrade in Jeans' mutation, but they never produced the season where this power manifested itself again
....Actually....no. This sounds a lot like what I saw in Ultimate X-Men. It was slightly amusing then ('cause of what happened with the whole Professor snapping on her thing), but its just stupid now. Do it right, or don't bother. I find it more realistic that its a cosmic force that gives her powers to make Galactus quake in his boots than what's really no more than a simple secondary mutation. WTF is that. Yeah, I know this is a world of eye-lasers, regen factors and "I'm Juggernaut, bitch" but that's just ridiculous to me.
