Why the hibiki hate?! NO SPOILERS!

Synch, I do have to say...you explained it pretty well yourself, and thus I don't really think this thread is necessary. However, I also can't say that there's anything wrong with you making it, so no worries. I just don't like how every time one of these threads pops up, there's some antagonism involved. But back on track...I think you answered your own question pretty accurately -- I think the haters hate for the sake of hating. It's not hard to avoid an unconventional show instead of posting around saying that it's such.

Personally, I think unconventional is good. Hibiki is an incredible season; I'm re-watching it at the moment, and I do believe it beats Agito as my favorite season. I doubt it's for everyone, though, so I'm not complaining about people not liking it, or trying it and dismissing it as not "Kamen Rider enough." However, I really dislike it when people don't even give it a chance. It's a great show, honestly...take the Kamen Rider aspect of it out, and it's still a great show. Denouncing a show simply because it doesn't meet a few requirements on the surface is shallow and lame. People hate cause they know Hibiki pwns them. XD

I think it's serious. There are, of course, fun and comedic moments, but overall I think it maintains a serious-ish tone. What I got from the show was this sense of self-achievement, and that there's always something greater. I'm sure other people picked up on it, but with the Douji and Hime, there was, to the very end, always another, higher level of them (hope this isn't a spoiler, it doesn't give away too much, I think).

Pointless things...I don't think so. Something I enjoyed was learning lessons with Asumu, a kid I totally could relate to, and I was upset when the focus shifted off him slightly in the second half of the show. Not a lot of pointless stuff...Hibiki is win.

To clarify things, there's no rule here stating that threads past a certain age are off-limits. The worst thng that can happen is that people get annoyed at it. Having said that, there's also no problem with new members starting up new threads on topics that have been discussed previously. Would it have hurt them to use the Search function? No. But does it hurt if they start up another thread? No.

From the viewpoint of the HJU staff, as long as older members don't start flaming or making rude/snarky remarks agianst the new members for doing it then there's no harm at all in it. The addage "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" would apply here. No offense DK, but the whole "I have the right to look at and post whatever I want" only goes so far. There is such a thing as tact, and whether or not something actually NEEDS to be said. Keep in mind that there ARE members here who haven't discussed every single topic that the older members have. Let them have their thread for it, like we had ours.

I didn't see a spoiler in there, so no worries, & if that was a spoiler, I didn't get it. :laugh: Well every other time I've took your word for it, you was right, so whenever I can, I am definitely going to give Hibiki a chance, and try my best to enjoy it.

Is it serious or comedic? A little of both I suppose, but I would say serious. The writing is definitely set in reality, in that it doesn't always feel like a superhero program. There are comedic bits here and there, but it's nothing at all like what you would see in Den-O or Kabuto's "anime styled" humor.

As for pointless things going on? That depends on what you yourself think of as being "pointless." One of the main threads of the story (mainly before the infamous change in writers) is young Asumu's coming of age and growth, of him trying to find his place in the world with Hibiki as a guide. There are things that happen like Asumu getting into a fight with a shoplifter, or trying to make it into a certain school, that may or may not interest you. There are plenty of times in the first half where the Oni's battles kind of take second place to Asumu.

The thing about Hibiki is it really is more of a show for grown ups. It's not necessarily about good guys fighting evil monsters. If you want "teh hardcorez DARKNESSEs!!11" You might be a disappointed.

I personally liked the settings featured in the show myself. The locations show a more traditional Japanese culture, and not the stone cold cityscapes that we are used to seeing in the New Gen Rider programs. If anything, it's a very different feel from what most fans seem to be used to.

Thanks for the good description Nand Nor. From what you & Takuya say, I think I'll like it after I watch a little. You two make is sound good, so it's worth a shot anyway. Yeah.. I'm not too into "teh hardcorez DARKNESSEs!!11". Lol Only show I was really into that people call "dark" was Garo (then I hear Shibuya 15 is great). But anywho, I'll definitely give it a try when I get the chance (which could be a good while from now, but it will happen.)

a bit of both... have you watched deno ?.. If you like deno you should check out this series & even if you don't... I'm almost up to the 20s now since making this post... While it has its humor aspects of it its not really humor like deno type but still there is humor too it... and the sound and music effects are not really that bad and do only last for a few shows... Its

actually quite neat how they do the music effects really as I found it seemed to go along quite well with what ever was going along with the series at the time! Like I said in the first post I had the same reaction you did after seeing the first episode... " what the hell did I just watch!!!!" :laugh:

Most forums that I've been to don't have that as an actual rule. Instead of making that a rule, they just make it so that threads that are automatically removed from the board after a certain age or after they've been inactive for a certain amount of time. We don't do that here at HJU, but if we wanted to keep really old posts from getting bumped, we'd just do that instead of making a rule stating "Don't do it".

For starters the original Hibiki idea wasn't for another rider series....

I think the producers were lazy and said something like "Oh let's just use this for the new program in the Kamen Rider series"

And the show is ummm...different from the kamen rider you see.....

1. That's no Kamen...That's actually his real face....(oni...)

2. He does not have a Rider-Special Bike...it's any motorcycle you could have got in any motorbike shops...
