Why is Yasuko Kobayashi so beloved?

Now that Go-Busters is due to end next week, I'm seeing a lot of comments on various fanboards along the lines of "we can't possibly have a happy ending, Kobayashi is writing this!" or "Kobayashi's the writer so the finale is sure to be epic!" Kobayashi
this confuses me greatly :eyebrow: all the time i see people complaining that she lost her touch and should take a time off after Busters
i think there were more people invested in Goseiger and Go-Onger finales than in Go-busters. so few discussion going on about it. its like most people gave up and cant wait for Kyoryuger

Well, I guess I'm the only one that has seen lots of negative talk about her. I recall someone saying she was part of the ''scary three'' or something, down there with Yonemura and Inoue.
lol sure you are not the only one. in our local forums people are always making fun of her writing

Myself, I used to hate her back when I read her story about not having watched a single thing about Kamen Rider when writing Ryuki. Then, I realized all of those drastic changes to the franchise might not have been entirely her fault.

Wasn't Ryuki not a Kamen Rider series when she was hired?

In what kind of bizarre parallel world where people like Go-Busters are you living in? I get you reallly want Go-Busters to be popular but...please..most people who didn't like it dropped the series a long time ago. Those "various fanboards" must be in the deep web.

What i actually see is that OOO, and later Go-Busters, did hurt Kobayashi's reputation with fans a lot. This thread would make more sense right after Shinkenger. Now people are starting to put her capacity in doubt.
Maybe her ideas are starting to get dry, like happened to Inoue, but personally, i'm willing to giver her credit. Timeranger and Shinkenger are among my favorite series, after all. It's Takebe's work as a producer that i can't stand, and i hope they don't get paired again anytime soon. Oh, and please Toei, keep Takebe away from Sentai forever.

I don't, really. I hang out on Tumblr and Rangercrew where it's still getting a whole lot of praise, but even without that, a lot of people seem to really love Kobayashi and that's why I started this thread (I try to avoid TV Tropes like the plague but her page over there was obviously written by someone who adores her)

Has this ever been really proven, though, or is it one of those fan-misinterpreted rumors that won't die?

I always thought that Toei giving her that one Agito episode to write (which was already sketched out by Inoue) was as a test to see if she could handle Rider, and that was in the middle of the series, when Ryuki was probably in the planning stages.

Well, almost everyone who didn't like Go-Busters seems to have changed their tune with the final few episodes ...

Initially I think almost everyone liked the show, they set up an interesting premise with some really cool details to the world.. They just utterly failed to do anything with what they had, they mostly went with very stock plots that could have been inserted into any TV show.

People have been praising the latest episodes because there's actually been a relevant plot with things happening. I don't think it will change anyone's overall opinion of the show though, just as it didn't for Goseiger.

Go-Busters gets a lot of praise for its mech fights, looking different and supposedly being "dark" (ymmv) whereas Goseiger didn't have that going for it ...

Considering that the vast majority of Tumblr consists of female hipsters, I'd say that nullifies their opinions almost instantly

Yeah, i mean, you won't find genuine discussion on Tumblr, and people who don't like Go-Busters certainly aren't there posting pictures of this series. Of course there'll be praise.

Leaving the shallowness of "looking different" and "being dark" aside, you talk as if no one liked anything about Goseiger. No series is universally hated. Well, some get close, but still..

Anyway, Sentai's final arcs are usually good. It's not unusual to see people that dislike a series but enjoy its last two or three episodes.

Goseiger had interesting concepts, but the plot and characters were so incredibly flat that they almost kind of overshadowed the good parts
