Why I hate 3-D(And you should too)

3D is just a "thrill ride" nothing more. I personally prefer 2-D but that's just me ._.

You know when I went to see How To Train Your Dragon I saw an advertisement for Step Up 3D. Is that the best use of the technology, to have limbs flailing about your face? Is that even realistic? When you watch a live dance performance, do the dancers' limbs flail about in front of your face? (Lap dances don't count.)

Nobody wants to see a bunch 'flash in the pan' type dancing in 3D. The only people who might want this are the gratuitous hipsters, and the gossip industry. (I'm looking at you, E!)

I usually never agree with this man, least of all his opinions of Video Games. But this, yeah ... it's just a gimmick. It came and died once and it will do it again. Everyone will store those fancy new tvs with their betamax players.

.. But at the end of the day I can't see 3D films due to diminished vision in my right eye anyways so, eh.

I like 3D when the movie was designed for it. But when it's tacked on it's just awful.

This is my stance as well. I also think that the up charge for 3d movies is a joke. My local theatre charges 5 bucks more to see a movie in 3d. I think this up charge is just an excuse for hollywood to pad their pockets.

The same thing could be said for the price markup on Blu-Ray titles vs. DVD when it's the same exact content for more money.

Either I see it in Japanese (and only kjinda understand it) and pay 1500yen or I see the 3-D in English for 2000yen.

Question about those dubs, how are their quality? ^^ I'm getting The Dark Knight and the first Pirates of the Carribean dubbed, and I was wondering if it's some crappy "turn down the english and put another language over it" dub, or if it's actually good :P You said you don't understand much, so that means that it's ONLY Japanese audio? :)

I agree with you, but some would say slightly better picture quality is worth another 10 bucks, I am not one of those people.

Every movie i have seen in the theater for the past year or so has been in 3D, and i now refuse to go there to see any 2D movies in theaters now. Theater-going is suppose to be an Experience, and i don't get that from Non-3D movies anymore.

Maybe i'm just easily taken by whats trendy?

Could be that ,or the fact that you are openly allowing a new format of film experience to your life .

I believe only films that were produced originally for 3D in mind as well as done properly should be in 3D.

The Worst Examples are:
  • Clash of the Titans
  • Any movie cheaply converted from 2D and given no effort at all.

The Best are:
  • Avatar
  • The Last Airvender. (Ok ,this hasn't been released ,but interviews with the production crew indicate the film was made with 3D in mind throughout the whole production, a very great step.
  • How to Train your Dragon
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Toy Story 3 (Saw 3D trailer and looks greatly executed
  • UP
  • Despicable Me (Also saw trailer in 3D.

I'm for 3D if it actually is greatly executed as well as immersing you in the experience.
