Why doesn't Funimation dub Kamen Rider/SS

i think toei is aware there are fans in the u.s., God knows they have had to track alot down on youtube:redface2:

and again, there has to be enough people to sell this to. Just the hardcore fans wont be enough.

it isn't really Toei doing that, it's actually a bot that scans for matching footage, music, etc. so while Toei knows there is a fan base, they just don't know how many of us there are.

that's why I said show them. make the demand; at the power rangers panel at anime expo last year, when Walter Jones asked if anyone had heard of Ultraman, everyone cheered.

I'm not saying there's a guarantee that we will get these shows, but it's better than just writing them off as "impossible".

It seems like they don't care about foreign audience. Or they do in an "Enjoy your Power Rangers" way.

Who knows, maybe some company will license shows. Or it's even possible that Toei themselves will put their shows on streaming service. But if that happens, there will be dark age in non-american tokusatsu fandoms.

Of all the Toku shows out there, Shibuya 15 and GARO could probably grab some attention in the US, but I really don't want to see either of them getting dubbed.

I really don't think I should have to say this, but...

You know, except for companies like 4Kids or whatever, hardly anything from Japan gets a dub-only release. Most companies, in the DVD/BluRay release, will make the language optional so that you can switch between English/Japanese audio as well as Subtitles/No Subtitles that are only a translation of what was said in Japanese, not a transcript of the English dub. If the show or movie were to get some air time on TV, they might only show the dub, but that doesn't apply to the home release.

So, yeah, I doubt companies like Saban or 4Kids would ever want to touch shows like Garo, Keitai Sousakan 7, or even Shibuya 15. And even if those do come over to the US with a dub, it's optional. The main thing would be to BUY the release and show your support as much as possible, if you want more Toku to come over in its uncut form.

Has any US company even tried to do anything with Garo? It'd be a shame if that show didn't come over here since it's tailor-made for a western audience.

A writer from Power Rangers tried to get it adapted seriously and it fell through when they wanted a kid's show.

Not sure how it wouldn't work uncut as we are in this fantasy phase and Game of Thrones is the ****.

The general consensus for live-action dubs is that they're so godawfully cheesy, it's unbearable. And their words don't match their lip movements.

That's why you don't see a lot of live-action dubs on DVD. And on TV, it's virtually nonexistant.

They don't have to dub Super Sentai and Kamen Rider. I've got a list right here of 46 individual series they could dub, and that's just scratching the surface. The could also dub the Metal Heroes series that is not Shaider, Speilban, Metalder, Blue SWAT, or B-Fighter.

exactly thats my point. watch the clips in the first post, as far as dubbing is concerned they are amazing. and I'm not sure that some of you guys understand what I'm saying when i say i want them dubbed .

what I'm saying is that i want legal releases subbed/dubbed/or both of toku series not just sentai and kamen rider.

I want a legal way to represent the fan base that could actually generate better awareness.

I realize that saban has the rights but he's not doing anything with the original material. I think he should allow funimation the rights to releasing the original, uncut, subbed/dubbed/both series on DVD ONLY. and it doesn't even need to be sold in stores it could just be online, at least to start. they could stream episodes of the newest series and slowly release box sets for sale online.
