Why bash boybands?

Personally, I'm not really into boy bands or Justin Bieber, but every time I go to karaokes with my girl friends, they seem to dig it when we sing boy band songs. I think this is because it helps them reminisce of the time when they used to love those songs from BSB or N'Sync and it kinda shows the softer side of the guy singing them, which they like more often than not.
