Why bash boybands?

I know what I'm about to say may sprout some hatred, but I honestly don't get the boybands hate. I love them. Westlife, Backstreet Boys, Blue, and O-Town are just as good as any rap music nowadays, hell even better and more meaningful than just raps full of sexual meanings (not all, just a few that I don't get why they're even popular).

I was listening to O-Town's All or Nothing and my friend took my earphones and listened. He shut off my iPod and said my musics crap and that he had better music. He then open a song from Lil Wayne, who no offense, I like hip hop, R&B and what not, BUT HE SUCKS.

I don't get the issue people have with boybands. They're just as normal as girlbands or solo artists. It might be the fact that I'm in 10th grade and that everyone in my grade thinks alcohol and techno, electro house, etc music are the shits, when really after a glass of alcohol, they're gone. It's just fucked up whenever I go clubbing (no comments here) that my friends act drunk or actually do get drunk after a shot.

It's also extremely retarded how I'm listening to such a song, and then someone comes in with his techno or his G6 (it's awesome, but I won't listen to it when I'm chilling) and turns off my music. It completely ruins the bloody moment I'm having.

Doesn't stop me from liking boybands though, I'm a fan of all sorts of music.

When I don't like an artist, or a musical style... I tend to just stay away from it and listen to the stuff I do like.

People loooove to complain about things though. Makes the world turn.

Can't the same be applied to a lot of other music as well? Just because it's without meaning to one person doesn't mean it is to another, music is a wide genre meant to touch on various subjects. There are some who would say anything made in the last 30 years is crap. Blanket statements are tricky when it comes to anything.

The issue most people have with boy bands is that they are more concerned with crafting an image than anything else. Because of this they are seen as hollow, manufactured products with little to no redeeming musical value. Also some people are just annoyed when a signing group calls themselves a band despite them not playing instruments.

What is meaningless or not is an opinion. People that bash these groups and such are just sad. It's like all the people around here that bash Beiber. If you don't like what he does, don't listen to it. Bitching about it just makes you look stupid.

Well it's all subjective of course, but I think it's a fair statement when any one of these "bands" are created with the sole purpose of targeting tweens and their pocketbooks so a record exec can make money.
