What's difference between 720p and 1080p?

yer I see yout point  but tverstiy is techinically a legal program im using the free version, but you do still have to download the files you wanna watch, so maybe give it a miss

The difference are the resolutions. The 1080p means that the resolution is 1920x1080 while 720p is 1280x720. If you were to watch on a widescreen computer screen, you can clearly see that the 1080p video is much bigger in comparison to a 720p video.

Here are two screencaps that I've taken showing the same video but in both 720p and 1080i:

720

Hopes this answers your question.

Question

Whenever I watch a movie on my 720p during the darker colored scenes there seems to be dark "snow" in the darker areas of my screen.

Any word on what it might be?.

Depends on the type of TV/monitor. Certain types of TVs have a hard time recreating true black. Alternately the source can make a difference, if it's a 720p video file, being transcoded and outputted to a tv, that could be software related.

As for the whole not telling the difference thing.

The difference between 720p and 1080p isn't really that noticeable until you hit 42s or higher (TV size) it's more obvious on smaller screens on a PC monitor than an actual TV though.

well I don't know about you. but on blue ray and games the difference is huge and delicious. in normal tv. it makes cartoons look new and normal shows normal I guess.

This speaks the truth.
