Difference between 1080p and 720p

Could someone tell me, please, if there is any difference in picture quality, between 1080p, and 720p? I watched OOO Wonderful Movie in 720p, and then by curiosity, i watched 1080p, and didnt really notice any difference.
I watched it on PC, connected to Samsung 1930N

Long story short, 1080p is better than 720p… provided you have a high enough bitrate.
And it's very likely that 1080p files you download off the internet will not have a high enough bitrate to take advantage of it.

EDIT: However, your set up got me thinking:
- What's the actual resolution of your TV? Is it greater than 1280x720?
- What signal does you PC send to your TV?

720p has 720 pixels vertically, 1080 has 1080 pixels vertically. Meaning you get 360 more lines of pixels. A quick Google search shows the resolution of the Samsung 1930N is 768 vertical lines of pixels. So, the output video will be slightly upscaled from 720p, or significantly downscaled from 1080p. It will look roughly the same because of this. If you connect a 1080p monitor, you should notice a difference in clarity.

Nope: "Max Resolution: 1366 x 768".

At that ratio (16:9), 1080p is a resolution of 1920x1080.

Simplist way to put it:

1080P - Looks like you are right there filming the movie
720P - Does not

Even 1080p MP4 files would look beautiful played on a PS3! (Which is what I like to do.)

I believe you may even be able to play them on a regular Blu-Ray player.

Here's a size comparison. If you were to put each resolution on the same size display the 1080p image has a higher dpi (dots per inch) resulting in greater detail in the same picture.
