W question: What was the point of Kirihiko?

He's a member of the family now, there is no reason for him to act so shady around them unless he had an ulterior motive. I could buy that they were suspicious of him, and he knew it, thus the discreetness in order to ultimately expose them. But your argument that he was a true believer all along just doesn't match the behavior we see.
The way they treat him it's like he's still an outsider. They never really welcomed him all that much and I'd hardly call Saeko's reactions toward him loving in any manner. He gained entrance into the family through his power and proof of his ability to use Nasca not because he made Saeko love him. Wakana was the only one that treated him pretty well in fact.
He's actually a flawed person overall but thats really the reason why he was interesting in the first place.

I dont think it was more or less him looking good for Ryubee as it was to win Saeko completely over. I think in some way he knew she desired the power her father had, and he wanted to help her gain that. His offer for them to run was taken by me as a hey we might not be strong enough now. Lets go try till we can type of thing.

But again, if you're claiming that he truly believed the family was great and doing great things, he shouldn't be acting as though there was reason to be cautious. I agree with the reasons you give as to why they let him join the family, but I would have chalked that up to him playing the role of salesman well enough to get inside the inner circles, going so far as to wed the leader's daughter. Much like what operatives do.

This part I would, going with my original belief, blame on human weakness/naivete. That perhaps he allowed himself to genuinely fall for Saeko and try to make her have a change of heart and come with him. But given how that scene played out, it looked like Sanjo and Co. just wanted to be done with it so that they could introduce Ryu and the next arc.

Above all else his death really pushes Saeko's story along if only a little. It's pretty interesting to see what happens to all the men in her life and what happens to her.

Honestly Saeko had a really basic "my father never loved me" complex. Although by the end of the series it seemed like she was sick of it all.

To be fair the guys after Kirihiko were creepy as hell. Not big on the good doc but for some reason i loved Utopia. Mr. drops a lot. Idk to me his actor was better at being a baddie.

I forgot, but did they ever explain the blood in his tie?

And for me, Kirihiko was pretty much just used in a writing sense. I felt his death was a bit abrupt and could have been executed better if he died closer to the end of the show to better drive the point home.

I loved Kirihiko's character in W (as well as the Doc's and Utopia)

While they're pretty much villain, specially the latter two, none of them are "simply" evil, instead, it is the way about how they try to achieve their desires that deemed them as antagonist. Kirihiko wanted to protect Fuuto, Doc wanted to create a superior being, and Utopia wanted to prove himself. All of them have at least one redeeming quality.

Amen to that.

Though part of me forgives them a bit for the really cool flashback scene of the phone call he had with his sister.

I always thought Kirihiko was shown as a tool of Saeko's. She married him to advance further along her plans of overthrowing her father. She needed someone to help her. When Kirihiko faltered, she went to Isaka.
