[GAME] Vanguards of Hope

"Ok, I think this thing needs to be destroyed once and for all." Steve said as he switched his WizSwordGun to gun mode and pulled the thumb back.

"COME ON AND SHOOT SHAKE HANDS" Steve put his red ring on weapon's palm.

"Hope this works." Draco said crossing his fingers (or in this case, claws).

"FLAME! SHOOTING STRIKE! HI!!! HI!!! HI!!!" Steve aimed the burning gun monster's head to make sure the blast would kill it. while walking away from his new friends so they won't get hit if the attack failed and towards the beast to make it a sure fire way to kill it. The monster saw Steve and ran towards him.

"OK Let's see if this does it" Steve said as the belt said a word that signified his transformation was up.

"ERROR" the belt said as the flames died out on his gun and Steve involuntarily switched to his human form.

"Crap." Draco said in disbelief.

"Oh, Come on.....Not now." Steve said as he kept trying to fire the gun after it was all charged up to see that it only fired bullets that only stung the beast, but not penetrate the skin. the monster roared at Steve while the latter walked back while shooting at the monster's feet to keep it from coming further.

"Well, I can't do anything at this point." Steve said as he kept his gun pointed at the monster, hoping it would do something against it.

"Oh, yes! Oh, ho, ho, hoooo, yes!" Cure Dark laughed as she felt the surge of power well up in the beast. Tears of joy began to appear in her eyes. "That's it, you're going to--"

The end of that sentence was lost as a fleshy palm impacted with the side of her face, knocking her head around and sending her thoughts spinning. Alice gasped and shook her head. The sudden pain and experience cut through the darkness and gave her some valuable time to focus.

She looked up to find Cure Shine standing over her with worry in her eyes.

"Sorry. Sorry." Cure Dark shook her head one final time and then managed a re-assuring smile. "I'm good now. That was just... never mind."

"That's good, because the last thing that we need is one of the other heroes thinking that you're on the wrong side." Shine sighed. "Now, any idea how we deal with that thing?"

"Well, for starters we could-- dodge!"

The two split apart and rocketed in separate directions as a row of spines slammed into their prior location. Cure Shine bolted to the side and threw up a sunlight barrier. Her actions were just in time to prevent a row of gawking students from getting turned into a pincushion.

"Hey, guys, less time ogling the dragon and more time running for your lives would be appreciated." Shine grunted. "Now, move!"

She swept aside another round of spikes and then shot skyward as the students scattered.

Cure Dark's wings snapped frantically as she propelled herself out of harm's way. Her eyes turned over the new beastie, studying it and trying to get a feel for its flow of darkness. Maybe that would lead her to a weak point... maybe.

One thing was becoming abundantly clear, defense wasn't going to win this battle. Cure Dark took aim on that notion and sped skyward towards the other two Cures in the area. Maybe if she could spare them a moment they could come up with a halfway workable idea.

Cure Dark slipped past a bolt of lightning and retaliated with her own burst of dark power. A blast of energy erupted from her palms and spread out towards the walking skeleton. Her strike didn't do much by way of damage, but it did knock the beastie out of its attack pattern. She began juking back and forth drawing its attention.

Cure Shine shot past her and approached the other Cures. She threw up another sunlight shield to give them a moment of peace.

"So, anyone got any ideas?" She asked. "I'm open to suggestions."

Cure Moonlight breathed a sigh of relief at the two magical girls that they were all right stared at the direction of the enormous sized eel monster. The creature acted like a conduct absorbing all attacks and rerouting them back to their original sources. “Hmmmm…” touching the heart shape broach upon her left shoulder. “Gather, flower power!” The heart-shape aquamarine gemstone shine changed to a soft purple light. Grasping onto the purple light drawn forth her signature sword weapon “Moon Tact!” Holding onto the Moon Tact with one hand created a silvery shield covering their backs glance at the two trying to figure out a game plan. Noticing the yellow/gold Cure similar heart-shape broach upon her bow guessed these two powers were similar to her own.

“Matter-of-fact, I do” Moonlight continued dismissing the shield, “Are either of you able to do a Fortissimo? If so, it might be possible to overload that creature with enough of our collected powers to purify it.” Standing together with these two felt an overwhelming power growing inside her. Looking back at the armored warriors continuous attacks ponder why this was so with them.

Abby’s eyes open in alarmed by the Minotaur’s demands if the Fairy Tones were not handed over stared at the creature with sheer disgust. Even if the Fairy Tones were handed over in order spare the lives of others’ Abby knew it held no intention of letting them live once the Minotaur had what it wanted. Hidden from sight the voluptuous brunette felt their presence nearby with Harmony. Playing along with her fellow co-workers and patrons acted never heard of what the Minotaur demanded. Do not come out Fairy Tones. Whatever happens here you must stay hidden, understand?! Abby thought. Feeling the bartender’s hands shake embraced as he pushed her forward in an attempt to flee for his own life after they watched the Minotaur plunged its hand into their co-worker changing the girl into a monster. Having worked close with the girl never realized or taken into consideration of the troubles surrounding the new worker.

While they were different from one another Abby saw that they shared few things in common somber at the misfortune that now befell. Taking a step back glared scrutinizing to what the girl had become from her fears and sorrow. The words used to describe Abby hardly viewed or consider her to be someone envied about. Abby did not care if the world crumbled today or the next felt wanting to undo the damage that sick bastard wrought. “That is not true, nya!” Harmony popped out running towards the harpy-like creature. “Please believe us, nya.” The white feline stood on its hind legs with arms spread apart blocking her path alongside the Fairy Tones.

“You are being deceived, Lari” The light blue fairy tone Lari spoke

“These desires are not your true ones, but that of his, So-so.” The green fairy tone Sori added.

“What are you guys doing?!” Abby shouted, “Get out of her now! Do you not see that they’re after you?!”

“We know” The Fairy Tones replied in unsion,

“But we cannot turn away from one who needs our help, Fafa” The yellow Fairy Tone chimed, “And right now that girl needs our help….your help”. Abby raised an eyebrow not quite understanding what they were asking of her. Biting down upon the lower part of her lip ran towards her former co-worker wondering what the hell she was doing trying to help this delussional girl.

(Zig, the feline in this is the daughter of Hummy, that I dubbed Harmony. Heh heh...and trust me. Abby is going to be kicking some major arse. )

As Thomas addressed the two vanguards Gin reached into his pocket an and pulled out a half empty pack of cigarettes. He popped one out and lit it before clumsily returning to to his pocket. Because of this Gin missed the first evil look shot at him from Thomas. Perhaps for that reason Thomas so fit to send another one at him before taking off on the back of Decade's bike. Gin caught him the second time around and shot an equally nasty look at him.

While he was within earshot of Molly and Hayato he didn't take in much of their conversation. His brain was preoccupied with thoughts of the events moments prior, specifically the strange instinct which drove him to charge fearlessly at the slug creature. Trying to find a similar feeling to compare it to but finding little which resembled it.

Molly turned and nodded to Gin. He assumed he'd be the one escorting her back to the black moor. He was happy to do it. Especially if it was an uneventful trip. It meant that much time before he had to talk to his ex wife. He offered a informal salute to Hayato.

"Next time drinks are me buddy"

He then turned to Molly, offering as reassuring a smile as he could manage.

As they walked back he'd, often clumsily, maneuver the cigarette in his mouth away from the girl. Going as far as to drop it when the wind blew smoke her way, lighting up another when it eventually died down.

Cure Shine couldn't help but give the azure girl a quick look as she wasn't quite sure just what the other Cure was talking about. But there wasn't time for debate. Some of the other heroes had hit the giant monster thing with all that they had and it was still up and moving. It really made her wonder how durable this thing was intended to be.

"I don't really know what a 'fortissimo' is, well, I know what it is, but I don't think you're referring to a musical term." Shine jerked to the side to avoid another lightning bolt. "But if it's similar to zapping him with the power of a thousand suns, then I should be able to help. Actually, come to think of it, a concentrated strike should be able to break through that sort of barrier--"

At that point, something black and hazy landed next to them and congealed into the form of Cure Dark. The Cure was panting hard and looking slightly worse for wear.

"Hey, is the planning committee about ready to wrap this up? I'm getting a little tired of playing tag with that--"

A dim glow in the corner of her eye cut off the Dark Cure. She ducked and peered closer at the battle and then bit off a curse. One of the other hero guys had decided that it was time to be macho or something because he'd untransformed and was about to get up close and personal with the beastie's feet.

Never had cursing sounded so appealing.

"Fan-freakin'-tastic. Forget this!"

With that, Dark Cure bolted away from the two magical warriors and shot back towards the scene of the battle. The magical dude needed some help and so she was primed to deliver. Dark Cure gathered her magical powers and prepared to unleash them in one concentrated assault.

She began the intonation: "Creature of evil, from the shadows you were born and to the shadows you will return!"

A charge of shadow twisted in Dark Cure's palm before igniting into a stream of negative energy. Dark Cure snapped her wings, propelling her down towards the beastie with incredible speed. She shot past the monster's shoulder and alighted against the side of a campus building. Her legs coiled beneath herself, gathering power and energy, while the dark flames licking her arms boiled in barely restrained fury.

"Consuming Darkness!"

With that, Dark Cure burst away from the building, ducked beneath a flailing broadsword and crashed her fist into the monster's chest. There was an explosion of shadow and energy, and then the explosion instantly reversed itself and began retreating into Dark Cure's palm.

The monster roared in extended agony, while the impact knocked it backwards away from Steve. The retreating explosion tore bits of flesh and armor free of its being and, much like crumbs would get carried down the drain, whirled about before vanishing into the magical girl's palm.

The display ended and Dark Cure whipped her hand back and smiled. It felt good to feast again. She planted a foot against the monster's shoulder and pushed, sending herself cartwheeling away from the monster and down to the ground next to the former ring-bearing wizard.

"Need a lift?" She quipped and offered him her hand. "It's probably not going to be safe down here for much longer."

"Thanks." Steve gladly accepted the Dark Cure's offer for a lift. "I owe ya one."

"Remind me not to get her mad." Draco commented regarding that display of whoop-ass Cure Dark unleashed on that monster. Steve had to agree with Draco on some degree. But now was not the time to play. Steve had to find out if he could help at all.

Steve turned to his dragon, Not Regarding whether the Dark cure was going to ask about Draco afterwords.

"Draco, how long will it be until i'll be able to transform again." Steve asked the dragon spirit, hoping it would be a brief time limit.

"15 minutes. After that, your powers will be fully restored." Draco answered. Steve would've wished for a much shorter time limit but that would have to do for the time being. Draco looked at the people at the university. Some of the students seemed to be trying to get in the dorms so they could hide from the monster.

"Maybe you can help those students out by getting them into the dorms." Draco said by pointing to the university.

"Awesome, hopefully that thing should be dead by the time i'm done." Steve said as he turned to his friend, knowing he'd have to explain who he was talking to sooner or later. "Think you can drop me off at the university so I can help get the remaining students at that court-yard back to their dorms?"

G1 nodded to molly still surprised that the young girl he had saw before turned out to be his land lady. Glancing off to the distance as decade sped away, G1 couldn't help but think Molly had a good point.

Even if Gin seemed a bit unusual so far all he had done was try to fight a fiend head, so it was unlikely Gin was in league with them in some way. But more importantly if people were in immediate danger he just couldn’t just ignore it.

“You’re right I'm going to check it, but try to stay inside at night from now on.â€

G1 said trying hard not to sound condensending to the girl. Leaving molly and Gin with a quick nod, G1 ran off following his map to the university. Within minutes Hayato starting planning out how to best improve the speed of his armour though he soon concluded it might be best to build a motorbike though that may be too simple a solution.

Mega yellow backed away as the white figure burst from the rubble and attacked the eel. A ran toward to group quietly cursing the thing for destroying her flying surfboard. Looking toward her immediate allies, Reika looked on practically stunned as one of the magical girls was attacking the eel head on showing an almost terrifying amount of power.

Mega yellow turned to the eel trying to gauge the beasts remaining power, as if sensing her stare the eel’s head twisted suddenly to face Mega yellow as its remaining spines. Reika impulsively straifed out of the way of its attack and fired at the beast’s face with her mega sniper. Grunting in pain, the beast covered its eyes with one hand before firing lightning with its free arm.

Reika ducked under the poorly aimed lightning attack and charged toward the eel as she unknowingly changed into mega black. Moving into point blank range Reika reached for her mega slinger only to draw a mega rod and poke the pole arm into the creatures face much to her own surprise. More irritated then injured the beast lunged at mega black, before she leapt into the air out of its reach. The beast turned it head back and forth looking for the spandex clad warrior as she landed not far behind it.

“Rod breakâ€

Though she had little idea where the words came from, it seemed to suit her attack as she slashed the beast with the crescent blade of her rod. The beast seemed staggered at least for the moment, as mega black readied her weapon for its counter assault, praying that she doesn't randomly change again.

â€My brother says monsters are attacking the university! There are people fighting them, but the students are scattered and terrified…there anyway you can give me a ride there?â€

Decade held up a hand to Thomas, silencing him. He was already beginning to ache from the slug's onslaught and he was almost out of cards. As much as he wanted to keep fighting, it would probably be smart for him to leave sit this one out, especially since there were apparently others fighting. He was about to tell Thomas as much, but he heard a familiar beeping in his ears- the folks at Indigo were calling him.

"Camden, status report."
"Two buggers down. Apparently there are more attacking the university-"
"Then proceed to the university and engage."
"With all due respect, boss, I'm running a bit on empty. There are others fighting already, so I may just sit this one out."
"He's right, sir. Cam's harmonics are highly irregular."
"Vat? Zat is impossible! Everything vas vorking perfektly! It must be zat new kard!"
"Nah, doc, the card was okay. Wish you would have told me about that feature earlier."
"Ah, vell, yes. I, uh, vanted it to be a surprise?"
"Huh. Never figured you'd be the sort to do that."
"Ja, vell, you know. Sometime-"
"Enough chatter. Camden, your orders still stand. Engage the enemy, especially if there are other combatants in the area."
"Uh, boss? Why are they so important?"
"That's not your concern."
"With all due respect, sir, I think it is! Cam's the one out there risking his life. If he-"

Decade missed whatever point Alys had been making, as he was distracted by the sound of a bike revving. He turned to see Thomas driving away on his bike. He stared dumbstruck.

"Did...did he just take my bike?"
"Uh, I think so Cam."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."

For a moment, no one said anything. The next to speak was one of the techs working in the background.

"Uh, shouldn't he be going after that guy?"

Then everyone started talking at once.

"Camden, how the HELL did that happen?!"
"I was in a hurry. I must have left the keys in!"
"Vat?"
"Don't you have an override or something?"
"Vat?!"
"I don't think so, Cam."
"What? What kind of secret government organization builds hi-tech gizmos and DOESN'T INCLUDE A KILLSWITCH?!"
"WHAT KIND OF AGENT FORGETS TO TAKE OUT THE KEYS?!"
"WHY ARE WE ALL YELLING?!"
"VAT?!"
"WHY ARE YOU JUST STANDING THERE? GET MOVING!!"
"Okay, okay! Alys, give me the best directions to the university!"

Cursing just about everything with every word possible, Decade took off running towards the university. He didn't have any hope of catching up- even in his transformed state, he couldn't hope to match the landspeed of the bike- but maybe he could outmaneuver it. Backroads, shortcuts, and other routes the bike couldn't take would make or break this fiasco.

Shifting in front of Shine rerouted the lighting aimed at them redirected its path off to the side. “Gather much of your power into this attack, but do not release it all at once.†Moonlight nodded in accordingly to Shine’s words, “Not at first.†Reminded of Shine’s companions’ word they needed to act now held strong that the joint attack would work. Gripping onto the hilt of the Moon Tact firmly in one hand ran towards the gigantic eel monster dodging between its electric attacks. Everyone gathered were trying their hardest against an enemy they knew not shared that in common did not want to lose for their sake as well. Was this what they called a heroes’ bond? “Precure Floral Power Fortissimo†Moonlight cried. Skidding to a sudden halt digging her heals into the ground the purple gemstone on the Moon Tact glowed brightly ƒƒ before encasing Moonlight’s body in its energy. Growing more intensely Cure Moonlight’s body reshaped into a glowing orb before rocketing towards the monster’s chest.

The purple light pushed back the creature’s attacks as it met head on till piercing straight through the creature’s chest. The purple orb shattered reforming Cure Moonlight’s body behind the gigantic creature living a heart shape marking where the silver precure pierced. Raising the moon tact placed the single gloved hand upon the spin dial holding back her power awaiting Shine. From where Cologne hovered protecting a few stragglers nodded in approval happy to see that she was finally starting to get a hang of it.

(Sorry for the late post. Forgot that I had made a promise to help out at the church children's christmas play.)

Following her companion's instructions, Shine stepped aside to let the silver warrior take the lead. As she did so, she began to gather her gifts and powers into one powerful focal point. The blond placed her palms together and began gathering a storm of magical power between them.

"Creature of the darkness!" Shine began her incantation. "Let your evil be exposed for what it truly is. Brilliant Radiance!"

On the other Cure's cue, Shine snapped her hands forward, discharging the pent up magical prowess in a storm of brilliant sunlight that swept over the area. The yellow energy collided with the silver Cure's newly created weak spot and began eating away at its defenses.

---

Dark Cure's wings snapped as she propelled herself and dragon man away from the action. No way on earth was she getting close to that lightshow. Being a creature of darkness herself, it'd do more to her than just sting.

Instead, she arced away from the battle and back toward the university. She then acknowledged dragon man's request.

"Sure. It's a better spot than underneath eel-boy's toenails." Dark Cure shrugged.

With that, she dropped to the courtyard, braked at the last moment and gently deposited her companion on the ground. Holding her position for a moment, Dark Cure turned around to survey the results of the battle. Something told her that it was just about over.

“H-H-H-HEARTCATCH!†Cure Moonlight cried finishing the invocation giving the spin dial a swift turn. The glowing purple heart-shape marking in the creature’s chest expanded outward before exploding combining the silver precure power with Shine’s spreading outwards covering the few remaining offspring in the same light before dissolving into the swaying breeze. Closing her eyes lowered the Moon Tact down to her side still feeling troubled over the unknown threat. Even if they did manage to defeat the monstrous eel and its off spring did not think things will go back to the way they were as easily. A bit of a habit Moonlight brushed aside few strands off to one side. Spinning around Moonlight watch transfixed on the gigantic eel last remnants vanished leaving only those gathered and destruction of the battle.
