kuuga dont get me wrong its a nice series but too much gayness between godai and ichigou.

ryuki its had a slow start but i hated the ending why have the main character die before the last ep and why couldnt ryuga be a different character like dark kiva instead of being a clone.

Hibiki is the finest example of how polarized the toku fandom is, some want action, epic plotlines and focus on the rider, others want depth and character development :anime:

Yes. And I love how you refer to him as "that big one guy". Did you ever watch the show or just clips of him? And Shinken gold is the one thing in Shinkenger I just can not stand at this point.

The difference is that Hiroshi Miyauchi has talent and can pull it off. Comparing him to Genta like that is...like comparing Jim Carrey to that awful guy who played the Blue idiot in Operation Overdrive.

And there are times when Jim Carry is utterly unfunny and annoying too.

I totally respect Miyauchi as an actor but Big One was sadly not one of his better roles.

When I first saw Flashman I was struck by how, emotionally, the characters were just overgrown ten-year-olds.

I don't think Flashman is any worse of a show for that. I actually think the tricks it uses to make little kids identify with adult characters are quite clever.

I may need to watch more of Flashman to confirm this, but, in what way? I mean, it DOES make sense that they are emotionally stunted thanks to then loss of their parents.

....That said, the Flashman in the early episodes are probably the most professional Sentai team I've seen this side of the Shinkenger.

Personally, I thought Genta added a lot to Takeru's character, showing that there's more to him than the stoic Lord of the Shiba clan, and allowing him to slip back into that more easily.

Though I suspect the actual reason was Toei wanted a character that was strictly comic relief.

Hey, I'm no fan of Big One (outside of Gaoranger VS Super Sentai), but I don't think he's as bad as Genta. The only similarity is that they're comedic characters who drastically alter the tone of their shows, but...Big One had a purpose, Genta didn't. For as wacky as Big One is, he was an attempt at salvaging the JAKQ ship. Why did they need Genta? They already had an irritating overacting idiot in Ryunosuke.

Uh-uh. I'm no big Genta fan, but Genta's the most necessary character in the show who's name isn't Takeru. Created, or helped with, like five different origami.

I do think they're supposed to be stunted. Five kids being raised on an alien world... They get to Japan and find simple pleasures in things like amusement parks and balloons, and that's the most extreme it really gets. And the way Flashman ends is completely different from how it begins. Even Bun grows up.

See, that's what I figured. There's no way people who lived like that wouldn't want a "second childhood".

See, that's what I figured. There's no way people who lived like that wouldn't want a "second childhood".

While the story reason is plausible that doesn't change the second childhood angle existing. Sure it's fine to have that in the story but I don't really think thats the main point.
