A fan asked Segawa(the writer of this film) about director cut, and the answer was there is no plan to such release.

THANK YOU! But, why aren't the fansubbers on this?

Most fansub groups basically release things their translators want to translate. Most of the translators active in the fansub community now are primarily fans of Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, or other non-Ultraman things. There's little interest in Ultraman products unless it's a show like Nexus or Moebius that has really good word-of-mouth.

Saga does not have good word-of-mouth. Most of the folks I've spoken with who've seen Saga describe it as being the worst of the recent Ultraman movies. That means a lot of folks who might be on the fence about doing an Ultra project will probably end up deciding that other things are a better use of their time. (I sure did.)

That said, there will probably be a release eventually. I've spoken with the GUIS staffer who is responsible for most of the group's Ultraman stuff, and he does plan to do a Saga release. That staffer has been quite busy lately, so the work isn't going quickly. Also, GUIS's main translator seems to be busy right now with IRL stuff, which is slowing down multiple projects.

What Next, Then?

Amongst the folks you'd spoken with, what were their specific objections to Saga? And, what improvements did they suggest? What had they wanted to see?

Solutions, Anyone?

This agrees with what I've heard from other people, especially the complaints about Team U.

Noted and logged - a long time ago. I had read James' review, along with kabuto555's. I had just hoped that someone had suggested a fix that could have built on the strengths of Super 8 Ultra Brothers, and Ultra Galaxy Legend.
