Tsuburaya Doesn't Have Much Of A Choice, Here ...

TPC should actually make a movie for the Heisei Ultras as Heisei Ultra Brothers.

I agree, if for no other reason than that Tsuburaya seems bound and determined to stay in the NeoShowa Universe as far as storylines and characters are concerned. Yet, the Ultras that the audience seem most interested in (and willing to put $$$$$ down to see) are the Heisei Ultras. So, Tsuburaya has no choice - they have to get the Heiseis in the Showaverse.

I'm convinced that this is the reason that Asuka/Dyna was so heavily used in marketing Ultra Galaxy Legend, yet had such a minimal role in it. When they tried to showcase a new movie without a main Heisei Ultra in it, it didn't do all that well... So, they're trying with Dyna, and Cosmos this time, taking advantage of their respective anniversaries.

Plus, since I've been told that the ending of Dyna's show was the beginning of the remaining members of SuperGUTS' quest to M78 to retrieve Asuka, that could be the reason for doing a movie with these folks. For now, let's leave aside the various ... problems .... with this, and enjoy the upcoming show.

And hope that Saga knocks it out of the ballpark!

I agree with you and Reimon, above.

I think the reason we had that (far too brief) cameo of Musashi in Ultra Galaxy Legend was the fact that, of the highest-rated primary Heisei Ultras featured in Super 8 Ultra Brothers, he was the only one not in that movie. So, UGL was his "invitation", so to speak.

I have to wonder if we were looking at another "inside joke", concerning Asuka's appearance in UGL. Rei gets yanked out from ZAP Spacy by Mebius - and Asuka gets yanked in. Hmmm ...

Perhaps Asuka and Musashi were already partners? Or, after Dyna brings the Space Pendragon home, Asuka then became partners with Musashi (and Cosmos, of course).

Honestly, if not in Saga, we need to get the "real" version of Super 8 Ultra Brothers soon.

I think NOT, Reimon. That ending was clearly designed to put lipstick on a pig of a tragic, depressing ending - the hero getting persecuted and finally killed off, after numerous attempts to do so had failed. Sort of like the "downer" ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion, which the writer of Dyna was trying to tap into at the end. There was no way SuperGUTS could've known about Ultra, or its Space Garrison at that time, let alone have a way to make that journey.

And, if they had intended to produce a sequel, like a movie or something, surely they would have done so within a year of the ending. But they never did. And never would have, if the company hadn't gotten into a losing streak with their Ultraman shows ten years later. That losing streak forced the company to try for a re-union show of their most popular actors, including the one that they killed off, to pump up the ratings. And it worked!

I don't mind if tsuburaya stick to neo showa era, but to be honest i am little tired with too Many Ultra Brother Appearance.
Tsuburaya should create new generation of ultra brothers and give some screentime to other ultra like Xenon, Max, Neos, etc
Especially Max & Xenon, it's shame the TV series was nicely done, but they only given very small screentime in UGL

Especially Max & Xenon, it's shame the TV series was nicely done, but they only given very small screentime in UGL

Would you approve of using Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, and Cosmos as the new senior Ultras, with occasional follow-ups on Max, Xenon, Noa, and Mebius? Oh, and actually integrate Neos into the NeoShowaverse?
