Toku actor availability

All three Go-busters were awful and miscast, IMO, and not just Hiromu. They definitely seemed like they belonged more in a "fake" Sentai show like Gransazer and not the real deal, or like they were last resorts after every other young actor in Japan turned the show down.

It's funny that Naomi Takebe has a reputation for putting together good casts, but she blew pretty much all of the casting choices in Go-busters, and I think that's a bit of evidence that she didn't have her heart in doing a Sentai show since she's a Rider person. When Magi Yellow is the best actor in the show, you have a problem.

I agree. And that's the irony of it all, considering that Hiroya Matsumoto was probably the worst actor in Magiranger when he was cast as Magi Yellow.

No doubt. Guess that's what happens when you want to be an actor or an actress in Japan & would like to be involved on something like a Toku show. It's definitely a lot of hard work.
Which is exactly why many swear they'll never do it again. They probably need a few months off afterwards just to get their bodies used to the idea of getting sleep instead of massive amounts of caffeine.

Of course, you can still see why they do it. Lots of varied work to put in your portfolio (action, drama, comedy, "historical" episode, theatrical movie appearance etc), gets your face on posters and TV screens all over the country, and perhaps most importantly of all for a young person living in the most expensive city on the planet, a regular wage!

I don't really buy these 'Never come back" things.
Who could imagine just 2 years ago, that we would get all 4 Blade Riders, Ryuki, Agito, Gatack, Faiz, Kaixa, X and lots of bigbads back for any Rider-related project? But it happened.

If someone in Toei will be really all-out about this, I bet we can get Odagiri, Mizushima, Seto, Sato or anyone else.

After all, there is always a way NOT to write a name of an actor in the credits.

That's because of doing movie/cameo appearances, not doing 50-51 weeks of filming episodes.

That's certainly quite a trade off. :)

Oh gosh, coming back to that, I was just on another site where people were complaining about criticism of the Busters cast and saying how dare you, they're the best actors we've had since Gekiranger!!!!111 I've seen a bit of fan gushing over how the Busters were supposedly the best thing in the Kyoryuger Vs movie and SO much better than the Kyoryuger actors or even the returning Abaranger guys. And while I enjoy Go-Busters, I don't agree with that at all.

IMO, they're not the worst cast ever. They are not as in-your-face idolesque as some casts. Hiroya Matsumoto's improved considerably since his Magiranger days and brought a lot of charisma to the part; he was fun to watch and his likeability makes the outcome of his character so much sadder. I also think Enter's actor was good, it didn't hurt that he basically got to carry the show as its main villain and did most of the role as a face character. Kuroki's actor and the Buddyroids' voice actors have been around for a long time and all did well with the material they had. But the others ... weren't anything special? Not even by the standards of "OK for a show that is not generally known for its good acting." I think it's another case of people wanting to believe that the show is oh so serious and worthy compared to its most recent predecessors/successors, so naturally the cast MUST be better.
