Toei and Youtube

I'm getting sick and tired of Toei pulling Shinkenger episodes from Youtube. Luckily I already watched the entire show.

Toei, show some love for non-Japanese fans.

They are showing "love" for their fans. They want you to watch the "legal" version made for the American market. And if not, tough luck...

It's like the fact that it used to not be illegal to posess medicial marijuana, you just need a government issued stamp. The government just doesn't seem to make that stamp...

While that's true, why must they punish US for those that doesn't live in Japan? I would've gladly paid them a lot of money for those shows with English Subtitles.

They're not punishing us. That's like saying how FUNimation removing episodes of anime off Youtube that they own is "punishment." There's no such thing as "punishing" the people who can't see it if they own the rights to it. Look, nobody's saying it doesn't suck that they're doing it, but at the very least you have to acknowledge they have a reason to.

And, like everyone said, streaming kinda sucks anyway.

lol I love the attitude some of you guy are showing. I mean if it's illegal it's illegal. It's not like Toei's only letting people in Japan watch stuff online.

Seiously, I just dont see how Toei can see a fanbase so willing to view their material that we're willing to get it through any means necessary and decide that those people aren't worth a North American release. Or at the very least English Subtitles on releases they make. And then they turn around and pull the **** off youtube, saying "NO! You can't have it!" Its...its stingy is what it is. I dont think I've ever seen a company so stingy with their material. Hell, Power Rangers is in 10 or 15 some odd countries. Hell, look how good Dragon Knight is doing over there, but they dont have the common courtesy to put good subtitles ons their DVDs for their English speaking fans?

You cant deny us your material, and then punish us when we want to actually find a way to watch it anyway.

Guess what? Just cause we know a bunch of people on a forum who like toku doesn't mean toku is popular in the states. This fanbase is pretty small. When ever you talk about Sentai in public do people go "Power Ranger's is Japanese?!" or do they go "Sentai? I been knew about that ****!" I think dvd sails would do pretty bad here. There would be no profit in bringing the dvd's here.



Not to mention the fact that even if they did sell the dvd's

No, actually they can considering it's, you know, illegal and stuff.

It is not "illegal." Copyright law is a civil matter, not criminal in this case. In some places you can be criminally prosecuted for piracy for commercial purposes, but certainly not for sharing stuff on YouTube (unless perhaps your videos were sponsored or something, and anyway YouTube wouldn't let you do that unless they were your own creation)
