Thor the Movie Pre-Discussion - Talk UP!

You won't have to be tired for long! The sales on the Ultimate line are now so bad that it's just a matter of time until the whole thing is canceled. Most 616 titles now outsell their Ultimate counterparts by a ratio of at least 1.5x, including the books written by Millar and Bendis.
I basically see Ultimatum as the Ultimate version of the Pitt now. But it isn't surprising happened with the New Universe and Marvel 2099.

As for Thor the helmet is nice, but the costumes still look to rubbery, I mean they would have done better treating them more like period costumes for a viking film than usual superhero attire.

I don't think they look anywhere near as rubbery as what we typically get and frankly I'm glad to see a production actually play ball with the comicbook look. In this case, playing ball with Jack Kirby even while using the current costume.

I do feel for Blue Saint though, even if it is nice to see Thor looking more like the comic, it is still different to see them in aged-costumes to give that ambiance. IDK, the whole set of Thor just feels too "clean" for me. I really preferred if they used the Ultimates design though. Well, I just hope they make Capt Movie have aged-costumes and stuff since it is set on WWII.

The fans have spoken-- they want 616, not Ultimate. Ultimate, like most other continuity reboots, eventually just turned into a Beatlemania-type zombie rehash of older stories with a thin veneer of modernity applied to try and conceal the basic creative bankruptcy of the whole process.

What few good ideas Ultimate had will be absorbed back into the movies, then back into 616 through the movies (as has already happened with Iron Man). Continuity in comics will always revert back toward what fans perceive as the original and therefore true version of a character.
Which is a shame because the best title (Ultimate Spider-Man) is also the lowest-selling. Seriously, it's the best Spider-Man in a very, very long time.

Helmet looks fine, but from all the shots and concept art, I don't think he'lll be wearing it very long in the movie.

I've always thought Ultimates was the modernizing of classic concepts, kinda like how we got KR The First and The Next. It's just an attempt to keep up with the trends in design I suppose. Even the story-writing was changed to keep up with modern themes and issues, so there.

Also, here's a bigger picture of Thor's helmet.

Which is sad because the ultimate line started off so well and did end up becoming rehashes very soon. Ironically the worst part of the whole line ultimatum dared to do something different. Took out key characters like Wolvie and Cyke.
The Ultimates grittiness aside did pretty well for it's main story. Aliens are invading -> Assemble a team -> Get the Hulk under control but then realise he's like a Nuke and only use him as a last resort -> with a little help from the Hulk succeed in beating this invasion with a bunch of rookie superheroes
The second story line was more like this. Doubt Thor is a god -> Loki warps reality to make sure the doubt increases -> Loki wins because no one believes thor -> Divine intervention allows thor to escape and save the day.
All very nice stories that could only have been done at the very early parts of a marvel universe. I agree it's time is done with how badly Marvel treated it's rebooted universe.

That was honestly the one thing I applaud Ultimatum for trying, too bad the execution was mired in the feculent attitudes that had infested the whole of the imprint just taken to an absurd degree. The problem was the people they got to write the universe don't get or just plain hates superheroes. Like how Warren Ellis despite being a good writer can't manage a straight-up superhero story worth his life. Millar is just a piece of **** though. The rest was mix bag with strengths in character drama, but none of them excelled with actual superheroes. The problem arose since they were using the classic stories for their base at times it just felt like a bad play.

Also one last reveal from SDCC:
