Thinking of trying out Fencing

Lustful Butchery

Throwing Some Justice!
It's been on my mind for the last few days, but I was thinking about trying out fencing, since it seems like a cool sport that looks fun in my mind. I found this ad at a store I worked at, about a Fencing Academy that can teach you Europeon fencing or Japanese fencing. Though, I don't know which to choose & what will be better for me. What do you think I should I go for?

^^^ Good idea. It depends on your interests and what you hope to gain from the discipline, but both styles are extremely cool. I especially like European fencing as it's one of the most enduring classic combat styles to come out of the Western world. Plus it's fancy and fun looking.

I'd definitely recommend trying it out though.

Sounds like you're on the fence about it.

European fencing is the only swordplay style performed in competition as a "sport" without being a deemed a martial art. So kendo, kenjutsu, iaido, etc. don't really count.

If that's the case, then I know what I'm choosing.

I would still suggest looking into both styles and seeing what appeals to you. Kendo especially has a good reputation for containing a lot of philisophical discipline in addition to the combat elements.

You gotta ask yourself one question: do you want to fight like a samurai or like a pirate?
