Mr. Kamen Rider
Okay, at the risk of alienating all the oldschool KR fans, I have watched a variety of episodes of the various Showa era Kamen Riders, and I'm sorry, but 95% of them seem to fall into the following pattern:
1. Head of evil organization comes up with plan to conquer Japan using Monster of the Week.
2. Kamen Rider discovers evil plot and faces off with MOTW, who fights KR in a closely matched battle.
3. KR trains hard and discovers a new technique.
4. KR wins rematch with MOTW.
The training thing only actually happens on occasion, not every episode and I'd say not even most episodes. In many of the major ones? Yeah, but that's the equivalent of getting a new form/power up/whatever in the newer shows. V3 learned a new kick to beat one of his toughest enemies; Kuuga strengthened his own, and Blade got a new form. But that doesn't happen every episode.
And you know, if you can't get into the old stuff, fine, that's you. But bashing the old stuff to defend the new doesn't exactly sell me on your point. I'd be far more interested in seeing what people love about Heisei Riders, without whatever they don't like about Shôwa Riders. And vice-versa. I think the old Riders are awesome, but on their own merits. Not because they're somehow all just magically sooooooo much better than the new stuff, which I think is as gross an overstatement as saying all the old stuff is the same.
