Too bad they haven't pumped out Rio, Mele, Malshina, or any older villains such as Grifferzor, Birugenia, or Gashu Skull.

Man, what Glamador REALLY wants is an SIC Birugenia. Glam's always felt the cheap-ish costuming of the Showa era works better in SIC form. Just look at what they did with ZX.

Not to say I wouldn't get a Biru figuart if it were the only line available...but his face is fully visible and I'm not sure how good a track record figuarts have with that in terms of molding.

Ya know what other sort-of classic villain needs a figuart? Apollo Geist Decade Version. That design update is just brilliant looking.

For some reason, the new design of Akiba Red and that 'thing' around his shoulder looks like the stuff we would see in Claymore LOL~ A Yoma or Awakend Being wrapped around our beloved hero :p What a ominous feeling...

How come this wasn't posted here?

Honestly, I am not into the SICs. I prefer my figures to be accurate to the show in design, hence why I prefer my Figuarts Garo over the Makai Garo.

However, if they did a SIC version of Birugenia, I might get him just because it would probably be unlikely they would do a Figuarts one. Of course, if they did a SIC version, it might mean they would have no problem doing a Figuarts one. ARGH!!

Are the SICs the same height as the Figuarts?

No they are not. Think I posted a picture w/ size comparison in this thread somewhere a few pages back...meh, it's easy enough to dig up, here:

That's Figuarts Joker on the right there, and SIC Fang/Joker on the left.

When it comes to the design choices of SIC, it's really very hit or miss with me. Some characters I feel the costuming was either too cheap or too gaudy or just...well, let's say you could tell it was a guy in a suit. And those few designs really benefit from the SIC makeover. I think Birugenia fits into that category.

An example of some of the times when I prefer SIC's take to the show are Gatakiriba, basically every Showa rider, Den-O's various forms (especially Sword), and Blade. But that's an entirely subjective thing.

The point I'm trying to make is that sometimes show accuracy is good, and there's ALWAYS a place for that with any collector. But sometimes, you'll have a design that just doesn't jive with you (I'm sure there's at least one). And you might think "I'm never getting a fucking figure of that ugly ass thing". But then...sometimes, SIC makes you reconsider.

I didn't think I'd EVER want a Putotyra, for instance. But now I do.

SICs are more in scale with Play Arts Kai (EG: 1/8 scale thereabouts). Figuarts are in the same scale as most Figmas more or less--between 1:12 and 1:13 scale, since Marvel and DC figures are noticably taller.

The size difference between Figuarts and DC or Marvel can be attributed to how Figuarts represent live-action characters portrayed by real life actors, while comic book characters have "larger-than-life" stature. I recall OAFE's blog mentioning that as the reason why Movie Masters Christian Bale Batman is smaller than DC Universe Batman. (see here, scroll down to the paragraph next to the size comparison photo)

I don't know if that means anything, but I can sort of understand. Real life super hero actors don't have the same physique as comic book characters, anyway.
