The Live-Action Dragon Ball Z - Pre-Discussion Thread (trailer on page one)

Kinda looks interesting, but at the same time kinda looks sucky.. Did I seen Devon Aoiki?? Or whatever her name is. I really wish it had been a different Goku..

Idk for what part, but I think Edison Chen would have been a good actor to just randomly throw in this movie.

Oh dear god, no. It wasn't Devon Aoki.

That I can assure you.

If you're refering to Chi Chi, that's Jamie Chung.

I'm not familar with the actress who plays Mai.

Oh well that's good. v_v I'm not a fan of her.

Idk which character it was that I thought I saw her as, it was just for a second, but glad it's not her. XD

this has been posted...

but anyways why do i feel like db/dbz fans are taking this way to seriously..:rolleyes2:

Of course they are. the same way the TF fans took the movie way too seriously and screamed like little bitches about "flames on optimus! WAH!"

Fanboys are just like that.

Don't stereotype fanboys just because of a few comments.

Anyway, I just watched the trailer and am quite disappointed. I was hoping that the director could capture some of the innocence, warmth and plain fun of the Dragonball series (Goku's youth), but he seems to be going for an extremely mature approach. Everyone looks way too serious in that film, especially Goku training with Roshi. It's more of a DBZ type feel that a DB feel; if they're going for a dark approach, they should have used some of the DBZ villians instead, such as Frieza or Buu. Piccolo wasn't that evil to begin with, nor is he as homicidal or maniacal as Frieza or Buu.

I think the director's probably going with this style to appeal to mainstream audiences, or he's just trying to shake off the stereotype in America that DB as a whole is a pretty lighthearted series (read: childish, kiddy, not deep, whatever). Hence, he's reimagining it in a darker tone for more "adultness".

Maybe this will be the Batman Begins to the DB franchise. You never know.

foreverRed im soooo glad that u finally changed ur avatar :)
the fat dude was weird

LOL. That fat dude was Don Vito from Viva La Bam. He was hilarious and dumb, too.

The Chinese Unofficial Dragonball Live Action (ala they made it without permission) was actually quite good. The guy they had as Roshi was PERFECT. No seriously perfect its like Roshi jumped right out of the Anime. The whole thing is youtube.

Yup! And I'm glad I didn't see this movie tho, but I've learned there was a movie few years ago.
