The Fast Food Thread

I would say it's common sense. If a person is chinese, they can make real chinese food. Not that crap you find at fast food chinese places in malls and what not. I mean what part of what he said was confusing?
I misunderstood what he said, so sue me...

BE PROUD TO BE PICKY, KRBLACK!

Don't eat the slop that probably came from inside a plastic bag/bucket!

Now I am not saying that I have not eaten shitty Chinese food. I have. Because everyone else in said party wanted it/it was the most appealing eatery in proximity at the time.

But I seriously don't know how people can eat the crappy Chinese food and ENJOY it!! Why! WHYYYY! The vegetables are soggy and over sauced, the meat is overcooked and the sauces are too thick and salty!

I like my vegetables to still have a crunch in them, for my meat to be tender and soft, my broccoli a vibrant green. I like my rice STEAMED, not fried and covered with nasty soy sauce! I like my meals freshly prepared!

*is dragged away and smothered mid rant*
Why? because some family's were raised never to complain about the food you are blessed with. You have no idea what struggles people have gone through to get our food quality, I'm speaking for them. So complaining about senseless things like oh, this vegetables are to soggy, I'd rather eat the real thing, irritates me...:redface2:

...I'm just saying...

Not chinese food. Just like taco bell, isn't mexican food.

Actually here I have to disagree with you, KR.

Just because someone is of one race, doesn't mean they can't prepare an authentic foreign dish.

That is like telling me, a culinary student, that I will never be able to make a real, authentic Japanese meal.

As long as you are using authentic ingredients/cooking methods, its authentic.

My grandparents grew up during the depression. They had it very hard. That is why you don't complain. When you have no choice. Likening poverty to the choice between fast chinese food and real chinese food is really just kinda wrong.

Why shouldn't people be allowed to complain about food they don't like. It's silly to even suggest they shouldn't if they are paying for it. Or are you the kind of person that will eat any meal he pays for, even if it is cooked wrong, tastes like ****, and isn't what you wanted?

Yeah you are right. I still do not believe certain foods that are labeled to be foreign dishes are those dishes. Like calling taco bell mexian food.

My parents/grandparents grew up eating grasshoppers, and ants. It's bad enough they had to grow there own crops, just for survival. And the amount of food they get. Finished eating there share while wishing they'd had more. feeding 6 kids, and still not enough to feed there sons and daughters. You want struggle? I'm speaking for the struggles my grandparents had in the philippines. From there struggles, I've learned never to complain about pitty pitty **** like I'd rather eat the real thing. 2 different worlds I guess. I'm grateful for the food I'm bless to eat, that's why I don't complain on what I eat, where I eat. We live in 2 different worlds my friend. I've said my share in this you've said yours...

I'm sorry if I offended you by speaking what I believe in.

I too come from a family who did not always have the food they needed, and had to seek help from food banks.

That is why I am passionate about GOOD food, QUALITY food, and how it can make people feel.

A bad meal can depress me...while a good meal can bring me out of the dumps and make me smile.
