Superman Doomsday - Discussion Thread

Okay I'm only 4 1/2 mins into it and I ALREADY can't stand the cheekbones!! I didn't watch the JLA series much so I really haven't seen Supes animated since his own series. Those cheekbone lines make him look just OLD!!

I can look past the different voices...but YESH! Ugly design!

I'm singin' a different tune!!!

Just saw the 2nd and 3rd action and it was as fantastic as everyone says. You do infact get used to the character design changes, the dark sides brought out in the movie are pretty profund, Anne Heche does pick up the slack and become a pretty good Lois by time she talks to Ma' Kent.

The Clone Superman's turn was also pretty frickin' jaw dropping. I'm glad I wasn't spoiled on what he did to finally step over the line. I also like the eye wink they do concerning Kevin Smith's legendary tail of trying to make a Superman movie and some wacked producers desire to have a giant spider in it. Kevin's brief cameo did also not go unwelcomed. :D

So yeah... I'd say it was worth a buy, but not to spend too much.

Great movie and I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

I guess the biggest part that turned me off was that the Doomsday fight really wasn't all that big a deal, but Supe's death was more what the story was about... not his confrontation with Doomsday.

It should've just been called, "The Death of Superman."

I have not see it, but a professor I know told me he watched it yesterday and that the plot was not developed AT ALL! It went straight to where he comes to earth, he didn't attack Metropolis and that it didn't develop as the comics did.

Now, my question is did it continue his story or did it just end where he dies in Lois' arms? It would be awesome to have a movie that covers the Reign of Superman where he comes back to life to fight Cyborg Superman and his goons! :buttrock:

no, no it doesn't..... and that's why i'm so pissed off at it.

It would be interesting though wouldn't it! :eyebrow: I have to say though, this is still a very big step for WB, to go in this direction. You ALL know that for the longest time DC had only a squeeky clean cartoon image. Now they're trying something darker and new. I own several of the original issues of this series, so I was surprised, we would've never seen any thing like this in the Batman/Superman cartoons on WB!

Loved it I really did. Lex killed someone. Clone Superman did too. Doomsday was badass. And regular Superman was badass the whole movie. LOVED IT Best Superman story ever in my opinion.

Something far easier to adapt would be the sequels, the mini-series Hunter/Prey and Doomsday Wars have everything from Darksied to Braniac in them

I want them to continue. This is the most interested I have ever been in Superman. It got cheesy once Returns came out but this movie was too smooth. I can't believe they went that far with having a kid killed.
