[Anime] Spring Anime Season 2014

At the very least it wins best mecha design this season, and that saying something when you have Captain Earth as a competitor.

I like the pseudo-stempunk element from it and I like that implication that the setting is this world but thousands of years into the future.

Yeah I like how it meshes medieval fantasy but with tech from the real world too and they do a pretty good job of world building. The characters so far have been pretty likeable too, and Rygart isn't your typical Mecha anime lead.

I love that fact that they actually showed Rygart trying to figure out how the controls for the Golem worked.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, my biggest complaint about Captain Earth was how vague they were with the Earth Engine's controls.

One thing I liked off the bat was just how refreshing it was to see a Holdr and Sigyn act so care-free and laid back, despite the fact that they're king and queen.

And yeah, I know Captain Earth is only on it's 2nd episode but I feel that Captain Earth is not telling enough about what's going on. It sorta feels like it's trying too hard to make itself seem more complex.

Another aspect of Broken Blade that I like is that it reminds me of my favorite aspect in the manga Iris Zero.

In Iris Zero, 9 out of 10 kids are is born with a special abilities in their eyes (being able to see when someone is lying, who a person really loves, and even how close a person is from dying). The main character is among the 10% that are born without any abilities and he is discriminated for it. However, since pretty much all of his classmates. However, since all the other students rely heavily on their powers to interpret the world around them, the MC sees the world unfiltered as it truly is.

Saw the first episode of Black Bullet and I really like the presentation. Still have quite a few questions, but the animation is good, characters are amusing, and a nice balance between grim dark and comedy. So I think I'll be staying with it this season.
I just checked it out. It'd be a great anime that I'd certainly watch if not for one thing - the female lead is at best ten years old and yet half her lines in the first episode are her trying to convince the teenaged male lead to have sex with her. That squicks me out enough that a show I would've definately watched has become a "maybe".

Then stay away from No Game No Life, because that takes what's in Black Bullet and adds incest undertones

Been watching Break Blade series and the first episode is almost exactly the first two episodes of Broken BLade. A few scenes more, few less here and there but that's about it. And Break doesn't exactly match up with what's on Wiki either. Especially about Girge

I watched the first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V and it was pretty lackluster. But then, I guess I shouldn't be surprised given this series has been going downhill since the original ended. This new series is just so childish. Even more childish than ZeXaL. Yu-Gi-Oh! is at its best when it is more mature with childish moments. This new stuff is crap. Worst of all, the episode did nothing to explain to me what this new Pendulum summoning is. Oh, and now the first person to play does not even get to draw a card. LAME!! The designs are dumb, but the worst is that stupid hippo. I thought the cards Judai used in GX were bad, but these are just awful. Overall, I give it a 3/10 and that is really just for the opening song. I may watch the next episode just to see if they actually explain Pendulum, but I don't know. If you are a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan and over the age of 8, do not even waste your time on this crap. If you like Beyblade and are 5, it might be for you.

You're welcome to your own opinion, no matter how much I disagree with it. But that change isn't lame: it's reflective of actual changes that have recently occured in RL because of how the card game has changed. Decks are ridiculously fast and going first has always granted a pretty significant advantage--this just means that advantage was muted a little bit.

At any rate, Arc-V is off to a much better start than Zexal just off the basis of the main character not being an imbecile. Yes, he's silly, but he clearly knew his way around a duel, something Yuuma took forever to figure out.

Anyway. Again. Free to state your feelings, just...talk what you "know". Don't say things just to say them.

The preview info I read made it sound like a wannabe SAO anyway, so I guess they took it that step further

Chaika the Coffin Princess is a big  for me too. Any series that opens with a carniverous unicorn(!) that's taken out with a sniper rifle has officially got my attention.

I've seen the second episode of Broken Blade. I can see why people like it, but it's still not grabbing me. I had more fun watching the first episode of Dai-Shogun, and that show is seriously being done on the cheap! Like, "it totally counts as animation if we have a static picture of a person slowly moving up and down in front of a stationary background" cheap. On the funny side, Dai-Shogun has given me the first ever opportunity to see a show attempt fake Gainaxing in order to not have to animate moving boobs *slow clapping*

Ended up dropping Wixoss; the show did seem decent enough but the way it was going, especially with the incest junk; it seemed like it'd be a chore to watch weekly.

I'll stick with Sidonia for now.
