So much Sentai, where to start?

:O_O: Blasphemy.

lol I can't believe you think MagiKing is Ugly. But yea, Fire and Wolkaiser are beautiful.

Quoted For Truth. MagiKing is one of the coolest looking mecha in Sentai.

Edit: Also, the best way to figure out where to start is looking up openings on YouTube. If something stands out to you as cool, go with that. Like Magiranger.

Openings? If you can't decide, or don't have time to watch them all...

starting with Gokaiger is...well, it's probably not a good idea if you think about it.

You can safely start Kamen Rider with Decade, because that's all AU. Even characters are changed, so that's not really a big deal. In fact for Decade, NOT knowing that you've got changed stories and actors can help in the enjoyment I think.

Gokaiger....it's basically the opposite. Knowing is half the battle, and almost half the enjoyment. Especially if we keep seeing the....comebacks we've been seeing so far. Not knowing who these people are may not completely ruin Gokaiger, but knowing definitely adds an element of enjoyment to it.

Otherwise...well, I'm gonna say Geki isn't a bad suggestion either. If you were a fan of/hold a soft spot for stuff like Dragon Ball (more the original, but it has Z elements too), Fist of the North Star, etc. You've got a good chance of enjoying Geki. The creators did cite such anime as inspiration. I still dip into Gekiranger episodes on occasion just to pass the time.

And as for Magiking....Hyper GoseiGreat or Engine-Oh G12, anyone? Ponder that for a moment and then come back to me and tell me Magiking is ugly. If nothing else it was at least clean. Maybe a bit on the plain side, but for a starter mecha that's not a bad thing.

If he's gonna watch a martial-arts sentai, then DaiRanger would be a good choice. I don't mind Geki but, the last 10-11 episodes sorta soured it in my opinion; Dai's fun the whole way, through.

I heard Maskman's good too but haven't seen that one yet.

*shrugs* I guess. I stopped watching Dai after a bit. It just couldn't hold me for some reason. Same thing with Megaranger. Maybe I'm just not wired to enjoy the older stuff. For Geki, I'll admit that the last bit of the series was kinda off. It felt like certain characters came in too late, and their bits were kinda rushed, but then again at the end I felt like I really could have gone for another season of this. Even now I think it wouldn't be impossible.

To each their own, though.

Pick one with suits you like and work from there. It's a little trial and error but hey go with your gut.

Also you could try some of the team-up movies. In my experience usually someone will like at least one of the teams featured and be curious to learn more about their show.

For Geki my suggestion is to watch the first episode, then decide. The reason I say this is because Geki's main character will either be someone you love, or someone you hate. If you like him after episode 1 you'll probably like Geki, if you don't like him then you should probably avoid it.

Shinkenger is a good one to suggest, especially with the new Power Rangers season being more or less an Americanized version of it. Avoid Go-Onger, and possibly Goseiger (Go-Onger is almost universally hated, Goseiger probably has a majority who dislike it, but the fans who like it really like it). I agree with those who said Gokaiger is a bad starting spot. I just can't see it making sense to someone who has never seen sentai, and there are going to be a lot of characters who pop up from past seasons who you won't know anything about.

If you want an older one, or like Power Rangers then Zyuranger might be worth a try. Kakuranger is pretty interesting as well (the Alien Rangers were from this).

I really liked the magiranger, shinkenger, and especially the Dairanger suits, i've watched a few episodes of them all, but magi seemed too childish and one big thing turned me away, (the plant annoyed the hell out of me :redface2:) i also LOVE shinken, and i've started dai, is Dairanger any good?

Yeah, DaiRanger is cool actually. It's a kung-fu themed Sentai. Just be prepared because there's a psychedelic quality to it that can be jarring and has it's wacky moments but it's also got a lot of coolness.
