I was convinced the adoption would be really stupid and disappointing, but it was actually a really awesome scene. I'd chalk a lot of this up to Kaoru owning Tanba one last, ultimate time.

(Takeru actually referring to Kaoru respectfully as his mother was pretty priceless, too.)

I loved it how in her last scene she had that enormous fan the Kuroko gave her and she whacked him with it.

Yeah. I take the adoption more as "Bringing Takeru into the Shiba Family" rather than Kaoru becoming a "Mother".

Okay, this may be the only time I get to ask this before the series ends, but does ANYONE ELSE THINK...

...that Kotoha looked a little like a monkey? Anyone? I know it's her personal mecha, but SERIOUSLY.

I agree that the only logical and legal way for Takeru to be back as Shinkenred was to be adopted by the 18th head, hence making him the successor and the 19th head, the only issue I have with it is that what will the next generation of Shiba become? Since Takeru is now the Shiba clan head, then the next generation wouldn't be carrying the Shiba bloodline. Yeah they can still wield the fire mojikara since Takeru can, but technically, the Shiba bloodline ends with Kaoru, unless of course she only gave the position to Takeru since she saw how valuable Takeru is as Shinkenred and that she is still too young to have kids, but by the time she bears children, Takeru will probably be old enough to retire and Kaoru's children be back in the loop. Just something that is bothering me.

I love Mako but Kaoru was just pure awesome.

Yeah, or the fact that Kaoru broke the tradition will give the current lord the right to choose whoever suitable to be the Shiba-clan lord. In case of the 20th head, Takeru may well choose Kaoru's children to be the heir.

I was thinking the exact same thing aswell and I also came up with that as a conclusion. Plus Takeru could train his "sibling" to become the next Lord/ShinkenRed aswell.

Plus Kaoru said historically if there is nobody to inheret the throne then one would be adopted so who's to say it hasn't been done before many years ago.

Well, there is Return of Shinkenger coming this year. Maybe it'll go into it somewhat? Apparently the DVD focuses on showing what everyone does after the show ends before they get back together to fight a Gedoushuu.

(I hope Kaoru is in it! Two Shinken Reds = too good!)
