Samurai Sentai Shinkenger rumor/picture thread

I really like Shinkenger myself, it brought me back to Super Sentai after a long run of shows that just did not interest me at all. I think the ending arc has been good stuff.

But it's also not really a story that demanded the samurai theme. The same writer did more-or-less the same storyline a good five years ago in the Sailor Moon tokusatsu.

All the plotline demands is someone who's royalty and some other heroes on the team acting in a subordinate capacity. You could get that out of a lot of potential themes.

So, I dunno, I can understand someone with high hopes for the samurai theme referencing classic chanbara flicks and samurai legends not quite being happy with Shinkenger.

Like, I wouldn't agree? But I wouldn't read their posts going "what the **** planet are you from."

How can anyone be dissapointed with Shinkenger, especially from eps 38 onward?. I mean this is seriously some of the greatest stuff I've seen in Sentai in a long long time.

I thought they did a great job with Shinkenger.

Same as Lynxara, I did like the series, but their usage of the samurai theme wasn't really what I was looking for to say it was an awesome series. Yeah the last set of episodes were great, but just didn't fulfill its true potential for me. They pretty much just used the samurai theme as a setting and didn't really went the extra mile with philosophies and historical context.

Shinkenger seems to have done better, so maybe in ten years or so we'll see another stab at it.

The moment I typed that out I had the idea of a Samurai theme done in the style of hurricanger.

Instead of protecting the lord the five could be royal guards.

So maybe theres a chance. Ofcourse two similar themes are never done in the same decade

I thought they did a great job with Shinkenger.

I was happy with shinkenger at first, and then it became a show I just didn't care about. From the horrid mecha combinations to the really awful end of series writing. I am going to watch it to the end though. The way they brought back red was so silly. Shinkenger had potential with the samurai theme, but as others have said that theme was really wasted on this show. And after seeing the five rangers for goseiger, I think I am going to stick with older sentai, Double, and Rescue Fire.

It'd be nice! Timeranger was a great show, but there's a lot of other ways a Super Sentai show could tell a time-travel story. You could send a modern team into the future or have the team actively time-traveling to fight in different eras. Or a team of guys from all different time periods!

That would be pretty costly. Heck even the Timeranger's didn't go anywhere. They were trapped in 2000. They just had time related equipement.

They could probably use the Edo era set.

Speaking of that. We never got an Edo era episode for Shinkenger!!!

The one time where it might make sense to visit the Edo era and they don't use it.

Heck even the Gekirangers went back in time to the Edo era. The Go-ongers had the Samurai world.

You could do the sets, I think, they would just be insanely cheap-looking... which I'm fine with. I watch tokusatsu when I'm in the mood for good old-fashioned B-movie creativity.

I'm with you guys. I'm really hoping for more samurai action... I mean, without MogyuBazooka. Bazooka is not a weapon of a samurai, right? I would love see weapons that samurais really use...

Plus, a samurai armor as an upgrade for all members. Not that vest...
