I don't see why he couldn't come back as an outsider and lead the team or nominally lead the team.

... well, aside from the show having to end with Takeru back as Red Ranger to help launch Dice-Oh.

I don't think the team-up would be so much a problem, since the team-ups almost always take place in their own little pocket continuity.

But the team ups do seem like they DO happen at a set point, but don't actually happen (OR they just ignore them the last eight or so episodes after).

Even if they're not really canon, they're always set after the season has ended for the "veteran" team. Having Takeru show up if he hadn't come back at the end of his season would just irritate people, unless they stick in a throwaway line about what happened to Kaoru or show Takeru taking up the mantle again, or something. :laugh:

I'm actualy happy we *just* had a single extra ranger this season. It's a nice turn after having extra rangers piled on us for ages.

Yeah, but not all kids are really aware of that and would find it weird. :laugh: I think only adults like us are really aware that it is its own world.

But IIRC, post-series teamup with the succeeding team (ie. Dekaranger's team-up with Magi and Boukenger's team-up with Geki) really proved that it happened post-series (DekaRed coming from the Fire Squad and BoukenRed coming from their space trip with BoukenPink), which somehow proves that what happens after the end of each series will be affecting their team-up with their successors.
