In fairness, Shinkenger had to introduce so many new toys in such a brief span of time that I think almost any writer would've been frustrated with the situation. I think they get something like five or six power-ups in the space of about ten episodes.
That just does not give you time to build up to each new power-up and integrate it properly, because you don't have time to demonstrate that the rangers "need" any of the power-ups. Pacing demands that they get one power-up, then go get one more. It was pretty brutal.
Also some of the toys they had to introduce just... weren't interesting toys. I mean I've sat down and worked over this problem myself, and I just can't figure out what the hell you even could've done to make Daigoyou halfway interesting or story-relevant.
Oh god, Daigoyou. Don't get me started. There were rumours initially that Genta creates Daigoyou to fight for him because he stops being ShinkenGold, but thankfully those weren't true...But yeah, for any writer, powerups are frustrating. But for something like the Mogyu Bazooka, then...yeah. I dunno. To be fair you get filler episodes, like the Chiaki-Ryu stuck together one which could be used as a better lead up to power-up eps...but I dunno. I guess that's why none of us are writing for a TV series at the moment.
Genta's a useful character in the aspect that he's an inventor-plotdevice: if they need a new power up, where does the excuse come from? OH MY WE HAVE AN INVENTOR WHO MADE IT YEEY
To be honest, the best episodes to introduce power ups have mostly been the mecha ones. We got great character development from Chiaki in the Tora Origami episode, as well as introducing the MOST SIGNIFICANT KUROKO IN THE WORLD for the Kajiki Origami ep. And I've already mentioned the Kabuto one.
As for the double Rekkas...I'm looking forward to it. We deserve a massive big ass fight at the end which shoves the ridiculous levels into maximum, no matter how they justify it. It'll probably be something like "HEY LOOK AT THIS" *swingswingswing* YAAAAH"
Also, creative and bizzare pretty much sum up Sentai
Whatever man.
Yeah, there has to be a cons to this, like super low maneuverability.
Physics-wise, this is impossible, but since this is a kid's show... :sly: But I still believe this kinds of things are reserved for cartoons where everything is REALLY possible.
YEAH GOD MAN JEEZ YOU'RE A WHATEVER YOU HAVE NO SO CALLED 'FACTS' TO BACK UP YOUR PHYSICS ITS COMPELTELY POSSIBLE TOEI JUST MIGHT PULL A PHYSICS SURPRISE ON US.
*stops with the stupidness*
And like I said, creative and bizzare. :3
