Samurai Sentai Shinkenger rumor/picture thread

GOD. You guys and your so called 'FACTS'. You know NOTHING. You're all IDIOTS BAH.

Generation X7.

...Seriously, no. For the most part, HJU posters are more or less raitonal and reasonable people. Getting worked up because you're sad something isn't going to happen and is kinda unbecoming of someone in this kind of environment. Dukemon does alot for the community, which is why we trust him. Media in Japan is a bit different to other media types around the world (yikes, THAT'S an essay) and this is why people *will* listen to him.

(Also Power Rangers Wikia as well as Wikipedia aren't exactly the best places for info. Summaries after a while as well as character rundowns, sure. But the best up to date stuff comes from where? Oh yeah. HJU.)

Official episode summaries are episode summaries. Writers can twist and turn their characters to do whatever they want. Defeating an enemy does not mean they need to grab a new character, especially at the end of the series.

Merchandise driven shows like Shinkenger don't simply rely on their televised programs for cash. Because Toei is a company, they want to make money. And most of that revenue comes from the merchandising products. Roleplay toys, gashapon, figurines, what have you. There is almost *always* (and I say almost becuase I haven't been around long enough to have known what they would've done in Himitsu Sentai Goranger) a promo for a character, in order to build up excitement for that character's appearance, so lo and behold, merchandise and stuff for that character sells. It's nothing personal, just business.

If this ruins the magic of the show for you, I'm sorry. It's just the way things go. It's a merchandise driven children's show (Seriously, prime example, Mogyu Bazooka. Doesn't need to be there. Is simply there so kiddies in SaikoNippon can be happy to have something to combine their Shinkenmaru with, and the company is happy because parents and collectors will fork out cash for it) which appeals to all ages, but ultimately, will be driven by dinero. S'why Hibiki went downhill.

with sentai i can agree with you on but with kamen rider double i think it's the best because they are focusing on the characters and bring out the merchandise making really fun. especially when the merchandise on cstoys and hlj are always going out of stock, its impressive, now with kamen rider accel coming on, i think he looks really cool although i think double better and i think the show ratings wont change, i think it's awsome we are getting a new rider but with the merchandise i dont know about, it really depends on the viewers.

Maybe that's just you... :loltongue:

WELL FINE IF IM A JERK YOUR A JERK GOD

But seriously, I honestly think the community here, for the most part, is better than that.

Absolutely. Usually the mark of a good toku writer is someone who is able to not only advertise the toys, but do them in such a way that make them feel organic to the story. Shinkenger was pro at this at the start - the episode in which Takeru masters Kabuto origami not only made alot of sense, but there was a need for that item to be there. Later powerups, however, such as the Mogyu Bazooka, kinda feel like they've just been thrown in because they need to sell the toy.

The biggest sinner in this case is Kiva, considering the fact that all of the arms monsters appear within an episode of another, and the Powered Ixer only appears once, or with Kabuto, where the Perfect Zecter comes out of nowhere. Well, not nowhere. It comes out of an evolution faster than the speed of light...the evolution of Bandai to SELL MORE TOYS.

Den-O is actually a really good example...but I'm not going to launch into a rant here about it. It's apparent from the way they introdcue the Imagin, as well as the amount of episodes dedicated to each form. :)

In fairness, Shinkenger had to introduce so many new toys in such a brief span of time that I think almost any writer would've been frustrated with the situation. I think they get something like five or six power-ups in the space of about ten episodes.

That just does not give you time to build up to each new power-up and integrate it properly, because you don't have time to demonstrate that the rangers "need" any of the power-ups. Pacing demands that they get one power-up, then go get one more. It was pretty brutal.

Also some of the toys they had to introduce just... weren't interesting toys. I mean I've sat down and worked over this problem myself, and I just can't figure out what the hell you even could've done to make Daigoyou halfway interesting or story-relevant.
