[Anime] Saint Seiya Omega - Talk Up!

I hear that the Statue Form and Pandora Boxes for the Cloth will make a comeback. :castlerock:

Though I had finally started to warm-up to the Clothstones

I hate the boxes.

I personally like the totems + the clothstones. But what is the point of the gems in the cloths if they get of the stones in the first place.

I absolutely disagree. These Cloths actually LOOK like Cloths, unlike the spandex of season 1.

They look like that way because they are easier to animate. The new cloths may look "cool" to you, but they'll look terrible once they get animated with the third rate budget Toei is giving the show.

Well, we've already gotten 25 episodes with the Gold Clothes, which all had more complex and armor-like designs than the redesigned bronze and silver clothes. I don't think the animation is going to get any worse, save any budget reductions.

I've heard that they were very difficult to merchandise, though. Saint Seiya toys traditionally sell on the detailing and intricacy of the armored costumes, and... the SSO kids just didn't wear armor. So the designs didn't have much appeal on a toyetic level to the fanbase.

I would imagine redesigning the characters so they're easier to merchandise in a traditional way is both a good and bad thing. Good in that it indicates people were interested enough in SSO that they wanted to buy stuff for the mains... bad in that, well, it indicates that SSO season 2 is probably going to have a heavy merchandising push behind it.

In fact, that's the first thing I suspected when I saw they were adding a damned Steel Saint to the core cast. The Steel Saints only ever existed to fulfill Toei's merchandising quotas. If anything, the S2 staff may be prepared to have a bit of fun with their marching orders.

Here's something interesting. The new character designer for the next season, Keiichi Ichikawa, was the person that replaced Shingo Araki (the character designer from the original Saint Seiya anime) in Ring ni Kakero. That's why the Omega character designs will look closer to the original's (hell, Titan looks like an Araki design).

Goty kinda already posted that, 5 posts above yours. :P

Oh, didn't see Goty's post. Sorry.

Another thing I find funny is that Kouga, Souma, and Haruto (and I'm willing to bet Ryuho too but it's covered) have their animal's face their cloths' chest piece.

Geez, I wonder who Ichikawa's favorite character from the original was...

The VA for the three new characters have been revealed.

Hiromi Tsuru as Pallas
Eiji Takemoto as Titan
Yuu Mizushima as Subaru

The messed up part is that Subaru, the 12 year old, has the same VA as the original Orion Saint (one of the few Saints to actually beat Ikki).
