Sailor Moon Anime is returning!

is there actually any Legit DVD of Sailormoon anime?

There are R1s of the first four seasons and all of the movies, but they're currently out of print due to the originally publishers having gone out of business. The DVDs remain out of print because Toei withdrew the anime and manga licenses around 2004 or so, because they wanted the international licensors to issue the tokusatsu instead. Nobody in the US was willing to try to sell PGSM, so the license remained dormant. Allegedly this year Toei is going to begin shopping the anime and manga license around to international distributors again, but there's no word of someone having made a purchase yet.

Pure speculation on my part but I could see Saban going after it. Especially now with ties to Nick, since Nick must be looking to increase their superhero content in light of the no doubt upcoming blitz by both Warner Bros. and Disney. It wouldn't be that much of a shock if there was also some rumblings about PreCure getting picked up, since either one could give Nick a unchallenged lock on female superhero shows.

Toei developed Pretty Cure essentially to replace Sailor Moon, so I don't expect them to try selling both at the same time.

Honestly I could really only see Sailor Moon getting picked-up now if Toei was somehow willing to remaster it a la Dragonball Kai, especially if there is any interest in broadcasting. But I was referring more towards Toei bundling Sailor Moon and PreCure together. Sailor Moon must be appealing to license again if just to exploit the nostalgia of the now grown-up fans. And if Toei could leverage that in order to get PreCure into the international marketplace why not. I do expect at some point Toei to try and get PreCure a major international push this may not be a bad idea for them.

The Sailor Moon anime seems less suitable for fixing up than Dragonball was, though. DBZ's only real problem was the padding in between plot bombs. With Sailor Moon, the filler is so persistent, and plot itself is in many cases so distorted so that it quite simply makes no sense at times. You'd really need to create a lot more new footage to get something salvageable out of it.

lol To bad it's not coming back. I was gonna watch it this time. I had a theory about watching Sailor Moon just so guys have something to talk about with all the hot Sailor Moon cosplayers at cons.

This is how my mind works.
