Ranger Strike & Sentai Choco!

Mr. Kamen Rider
Some news about the Ranger Strike card game from Hyper Hobby:

Every team up to the newest guys will be represented, although new artwork hasn't been done for them all yet (older art or the eyecatch bumper cards are used for some of the older teams' cards) but I bet if the game's a hit we'll see a second wave with new art for everyone (as it is, Battle Fever J and everybody from Flashman onwards have at least some new art done for them.)

There are three kinds of cards, Normal, Rare, and Super Rare. The Starter pack will have 21 Normal, 12 Rare and 3 Super-Rare. Booster packs will be random.

Also, there's another new card set coming called "Super Sentai Wafer Choco: THE HISTORY", inspired by the successful Kamen Rider Wafer Choco snacks and coming out in honor of the 30th Anniversary on Feb 7th. Basically in one packet you get a chocolate wafer thingy and one card. This makes collecting all of them virtually impossible, as there's over 150 cards in this wave (Kamen Rider has had two waves with God-knows-how-many cards, and I think I have about 30-40...that's a lot of wafers.) The cards are usually kind of busy-looking, with a main picture in the front and a semi-opaque background featuring additional pictures, and some fancy border.

The breakdown:

Cards 001~075 "Super Anniversary Card" 1: Every Sentai team from Go to Gao get three cards each, when the three are lined up they form one picture with the whole 5-member team (The Reds are usually in the middle, in JAKQ's case it's Big One.)

Cards 076~81 "Extra Character Card": Various supporting characters like Yui Ibuki, Neo-Jetman, Signalman, VRV Master, etc.

Cards 082~117 "Super Anniversary Card" 2: Hurricanger through Magiranger, every team member or similar types of characters (Abarekiller, Deka Swan), plus some mecha, get their own cards.

Cards 018~126 "Extra Hero Card": Various 6th members/additional Rangers from X1 Mask on (not counting those done in the above)

Cards 127~135 "Dark Character Card": Bad guys, with an emphasis on the badass villains like Inazuma-Ginga (Awww, yeah), Dark Knight, Kaura, Doctor Kempu, etc.

Cards 136~144 "Hero Change Card": Lenticular cards featuring various famous Sentai members both in an out of costume (you move it one way to see one, the other way to see the other.)

Cards 145~153 "Super Robot Change Card": Like the above, but for various Mecha.

And before anybody goes and says

There's plenty in this month's Hyper Hobby, so go buy that or wait for Thai-Toku to scan it. I'm only doing the Rider ones!

Hot damn! Must...track down...Sentai Wafer Chocos! I just know I'd end up with dupes of Peebo...

It's disappointing to know that Changeman won't have new artwork on the Ranger Strike cards...:bawling:

You're partly in luck, no Peebo in this set. The other supporting character cards besides the ones I mentioned are those three goofball Goma villains from Dairanger, and the "puppeteer" robot guys in black from Hurricanger (I think they're from that.) Only 6? I guess with over a hundred cards for just the teams, they had to be picky!

Of course, that's 6 cards out of 153, so the chances of getting any of them are already slim. :bawling:

Any idea if HLJ are gonna be carrying these?

I think there's a decent chance they'll carry Ranger Strike, since they did some of the Rider TCGs when they came out, and this one seems to be an even bigger deal for Bandai.

The others...cross your fingers, I'd be surprised. Even I found the Rider ones pretty hard to come by (saw them at just one store), but I'll probably try to get some of these- those Choco wafers are good!

Man, those guys are even worse than Peebo!

Well Bandai is going crazy with Sentai merchandise all of a sudden (they're also doing a 10-piece Goranger set, with villains!) but as far as I know, "Ranger Strike" just refers to the game, sort of like "Riders' Legend" from a couple years back.

I saw a pic of that. They could put out even more sentai stuff, FGS! Get to the 80s and release a Changeman w/ Gozma set, Bandai! Or, I'll settle for at least a Buuba Medicom!

I wonder if they'll finally get off their arses and do more sentai Charawheels. I think doing the Abaranger raptors was a shot in the foot, because those were boring (even if I do own them).
