Sentai Sixth Ranger Color and Personality

Guys, this is Sentai and Japan we're talking about.

We're probably gonna have a guy in his 30s who's having issues with his wife because they can't have kids before having that. Or a woman who's torn between her career (ranger stuff) and having a baby/taking care of her family.

Even American cartoons have only started to barely touch it with Korra.

Before what? Ex-military characters? here have been actual soldier teams in Sentai. And Bravo in Gaim is ex-military.

Sounds a lot like Red Hawk from Jetman. His story was all about attempting to ignore, being slowly overwhelmed by, and eventually coming to terms with with the mental health issues arising from his experiences in the first episode. But I can't really see modern Sentai going there.

Actually, I just thought of something they haven't done character-wise.

What about a sixth with a prosthetic limb who is obsessed with proving that he's just as good as all the others. Something they haven't done before, great catalyst for character development all around & really fits modern thinking.

Wasn't the reason Kamen Rider stopped doing cyborgs because they didn't want to portray things like that though?

Episode 3 of Abaranger is about a MAN (the Red ranger) who's torn between her career (ranger stuff) and having a baby/taking care of her family. Nossan in Kyoryuger has also shades of that. The same can be said of Miki in Gekiranger, who is a woman and the mother of a teenager (episode 39 of Geki especially focuses on that theme).

Miki is older than the Rangers, and is a mentor/supporting character. There's a difference between that and having a Ranger on the main team in her situation. And didn't Riku Sanjo say in an interview that he'd wanted Nossan to be in his 40s and married with kids, but Toei said no to that?

As I said, there are various ways of doing that story without going military.

But, another that I thought of that they haven't done (And I think I'm probably out after this) is a character who uses his powers entirely for personal gain, but isn't necessarily evil, or on the villains' side. Although he's willing to screw over anyone & everyone to get what he wants, he still can't stand to see innocent people, or the other Rangers, placed in serious harm.

I think Kamen Rider's done that, at least once, & Sentai might have done it with certain monsters or villains, but I'm pretty sure Sentai has never gone there with a Ranger.
