Question for you Kamen Rider fans: How would you adapt KR for the US?

To really give justice to the show, just sub or dub it. Westernizing it might give the new generation of American fans the idea that "Kamen Rider" was created by Hollywood.

I wouldn't adapt it either.

Kamen Rider isn't very well known in the United States. Its almost unheard of unless you have been watching it for a long time on either the Youtube or Veoh.

What I would do is after acquiring the rights from Ishinomori Productions, I would go to Stan "The Man" Lee, and ask to make an Animated Movie based on Kamen Rider.

The story behind Kamen Rider appeals to a big audience. A man goes from living his life as a lively college student, to being kidnapped and turned into a cold altered human of destruction.

In the process of becoming a weapon of terrible destruction, he loses everything that makes him human. His sense of touch, his emotions, taste, everything that he once took for granted is taken away the moment the evil organization turns him into an altered human.

But because he was able to break free from that evil organization's control, the Rider is able to fight against the organization that turned him in into the monster that he is. He does this not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because by protecting humanity from the monsters created by this evil organization, he is able to keep his own humanity sane in the process.

This is what Kamen Rider is all about. And it is for that reason as to why Kamen Rider ought introduced more to American audiences.

As I mentioned, I would ask Stan Lee or anyone else in charge at Marvel Animation to make an animated movie based on Shotaro Ishinomori's Kamen Rider. Although it is entertaining to see Live Action Kamen Riders, the action of the Rider is limited through either financial budget, or simply because its only a guy fighting in a tight suit with eye holes barely big enough to see anything.
In animation however, the Riders aren't limited to whatever they can do. For example, in the manga Kamen Rider Spirits we see Kamen Rider Ichigo use his Rider kick on a certain monster. Comparing Ichigo's Rider Kick in the manga to his Rider Kick in the actual program, which one do you think is more realistic?

What I would also do if Marvel were to make an animated movie is try to keep the story original.

The main character would be an American FBI agent investigating the mysterious deaths of certain individuals in New York City. The victims, men and women in the 20s, and are found either completely decapitated through their waists, or are headless.

Eyewitnesses report to the FBI agent of seeing a "red-eyed" devil "flying" away from the murder site. As the FBI agent investigates further, he learns that at every murder site where the victim was cut through the waist or decapitated, witnesses reported seeing a devil with "glowing red eyes" flying from the scene. The deeper the FBI agent digs into the case, the more closer he is of learning what really happened to the victims, as well as the mystery that is the Kamen Rider, The Rider who Wears a Mask within society's darkness.

For the Rider's character would have the ability to transform into the Rider. However, it would be the Rider's human form that would be his disguise. The Rider would have a belt that when activated would send little nanobots all over the Rider's body, creating in the process a fake human flesh to make the Rider look human again. The Rider's human form is his "Mask" to society. Get where I'm going now?:169:

As the Rider, the character's abilities would be completely cybernetic. Within his left arm, and both feet he would have some kind of built in engine that when charged up, would be able to send an electro-magnetic pulse into either the ground, or whatever object he punches or kicks. The force of the pulses would be powerful enough to either send the Rider literally "flying" into the air, or strong enough to take the head off any opponent.

Finally, the Rider's mask. The mask should be part human-part cyborg. The area of the mouth would be colored dark blue like the rest of the mask, and would be human-like so that when the rider talk, he is able to move his mouth in the process.
The eyes would be in the same place as a human's eyes would be, but would glow bright red with the pupils having a lighter color that the rest of it. When the Rider views something from a great distance, his eyes are able to zoom in and out like the lens of a camera.
And for the sake of keeping the homage to Ishinomori, we keep the antennas at the Rider's forehead. Just like Kamen Rider Ichigo.

How about that?:buttrock:

Release subs of the older Heisei series on DVD, depending on fan response to the first ones, maybe try dubbing it.

As for a full on adaptation, I'd take the most recent completed series and adapt it closer along the lines of the original story but for a American audience. Honestly, I think the worst thing Dragon Knight had going against it was the network, it appeared on, probably would have done better on Disney, Nickelodeon or (Heaven forgive me for even thinking of helping the current Cartoon Network live action agenda) Cartoon Network.

Edit: Woohoo 300 posts!

Cue Applause:buttrock:. Just add motorcycles that transform due to nanobots and we are all set.

If I were to adapt the Kamen Rider into the US, then I would just give a direct storyline to the original Japanese version, give the cast less over-dramatic acting, focus on attracting more older viewers and less on the kids' stuff. Give it much more a marvel-vibe and change the background music to much more orchestrated-arrangements.

I would love to do an American remake of Shin and actually continue the story. (Prologue my ass :shakefist)

If I couldn't do that though... I'd would also like an animated series or a comic book version of the original story.
