When the Sentai is good you get Time Force, when it`s bad or just weird like some of the other seasons you get PRMF.
Any Sentai translation can be made good given the right kind of precision. Judd was good at that, that's why he was much better writing original episodes than standard adaptation with the detail he had. Kalish is a hack, and can't come up with original ideas nor did he say he wanted to in one of his later interviews during pre-production of MF, hence why OO has tried pushing slightly harder for originality and MF did'nt.
TF was good because Lynn and Jackie were a very dynamic, sharp and cooperative team who looked after each other's backs, MF was'nt because Bruce's team very clearly did'nt want to deal with a magic based season and phoned it in for the most part.
Magiranger split the sentai fans up and MF seems to have done the same here, where people love and hate the show for the same reasons the Japanese fans hated and loved Magiranger.
MF is regarded as one of the worst PR seasons of all time, whilst Magiranger does have a split fanbase, it's 50/50, MF's fanbase is an arguable minority.
Overdrive is good. and I know as fans we want bread with our butter but lets take note that in spite of not being as daring as Dino Thunder or PRMF
A bad attempt at the "Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker" route and abadoning character developments mid-way through is daring? Are you reading some perfected MF fanfiction or seriously watching the same season I and others did? Maybe it has something to do with why you liked Boukenranger, "a strong Red Ranger". It's called POWER RANGERS here pal, not "NICK AND HIS AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR RED CLOAK"
But the older ones were not without issues either SPD was just so bold that just when you thought they`d follow through with their huge plot devices they would leave you at the morphin grid altar.
The same with MF. Nothing came out of the characters if not the overall arcs. SPD they made up as they went along, but with MF they had the arc but did'nt give the characters beyond Nick anything in a rush to get to the ending. Like most bad fanfiction writers on Rangerboard, their priority was'nt the Rangers, but the story.
I stand by Overdrive with the understanding that when they really want to really try something big they`ll do it right.
Yeah, that's why only part two of "Once A Ranger" accomplished virtually everything part one did'nt and proved it did'nt need to be two parts at all.
