It's not like they're saying "all Power Rangers actors are killers," this was obviously just this guy's one claim to fame other than flipping out and killing some people and it sounds better than "guy faces death penalty."

It got our asses reading. This is nasty, but a very effective strategy to get people reading. Power Rangers is rooted in our collective conciousness.

On top of that, the title was "Ex-actor guilty of yacht killings, defense says". And in the article they state he was only in one episode. He boasted he was a star.

I think thats overly harsh, besides one body amongst many makes no difference, world is still the same with or without him.
