Over-Time vs Tv-Nihon: Which one do you prefer?

This hasn't been true for months, because avi is a dead format best left in the 20th century.

 While that is true, I could swear that you guys have AVI versions of your eps (guess I haven't noticed the lack of in the last couple of months :P), and people have made AVIs for LGKR for you guys (dunno about the 199 movie though)

The only times I've seen you guys use .AVI though is in your Agito subs. Understandable, though, since I don't know if they came out with BDs for Kuuga to...Den-O, I think. I remember there being a commercial of it.

I watch Gokai and Fourze from both groups, and i think they are both doing just fine. Watching form OT is good, because they get the shows out fast and they look good. (Plus this way i am not behind when i listen to the people on Talk toku. because they talk about the newest show the week it came out.)

TVN is good to. I know a little Japanese so i have no issue with them keeping in a few words or terms still in Japanese. It helps me to remember just like when i watch my Kdrama's. it helps me to remember the little Korean i know.

Both groups do a damn good job in putting out a show that you would never see unless you lived in Japan and know Japanese. Yet they both give it to you in a different format. Some people like the flash text, and Japanese terms kept in, other just want a show with everything translated, and the text simple. everyone is not the same, and it's good that we have two groups that can do that.

Fansubs and subs in general are not about teaching Japanese. Anyone that thinks fansubs should be teaching you Japanese or helping you continue to learn Japanese, just doesn't understand the point of a sub.

KingRanger, when did Favine ever actually say he's using fan subs to LEARN Japanese? He said that leaving some things in helps him retain some already existing knowledge. And who said subs couldn't be used as a learning experience, anyway?

Gonna say it again. If you use subs to learn Japanese you are doing it wrong. If you like stuff untranslated to help you learn Japanese, retain what you know, or make you take more in that defeats the purpose of a sub. Fansub or regular sub. Fansubs and subs are meant to help one group of people understand something not in their own language. Leaving things untranslated defeats the purpose of what a sub is for.

If it makes you or anyone else happy to watch weaboo subbing, more power to you. Just don't think that those types of subs are doing what a sub is supposed to accomplish. I know the two of you are buddies, and I am not attacking either one of you. I would ask you keep this civil. I do not need any more threats. Thanks.

Well he wasn't actually quoting Favine (until he quoted you talking about what Favine said...well then )

King is right though (even if he is forceful about it)! Sure I respect Favine watching both, and technically, King, Favine is right (it does help retain some words here or there), but that isn't really the point of the subs. The point of any translation is to let another audience fully understand the show in its target language. Sure you can teach people through blog posts, or even through another sub track, but since there's only one track, at this point it's as if someone is forcing you to see something. But of course we have other options now, so not as much "forcing", really :loltongue:

Well you have the brainwashed masses who think you can't enjoy a fansub with out effects, karaoke, or colors.

 Well, at the end of the day it's their choice. I would like to universe hop and see what would have happened if O-T had subbed before TVN though.
