Opinions on Cheat Devices

I personally would only limit myself to reading up guides/walkthroughs to find ways to farm easy money/exp or beat tough bosses. As much as possible, I'd like to avoid explicitly cheating. The type of "cheating" that I dislike the most is cheating to get something that you can get in a "legit", if not harder way. Then again, you'd sometimes have something like "avoiding 200 lightning bolts in a row" and "score 0.00 time in a race" with FFX, which are just ridiculous.

Then again, sometimes cheating can open ways to newly enjoy a game in a different way. The great thing about cheating in games like GTA or Saint's Row is the pure power fantasy granted when you don't die after being filled with a million bullets or fall from tall buildings, and shooting anything and everything with rocket launchers. I myself never cheated when playing Resident Evil. The best about that kind of game is surviving with what you have, and making judgement calls on what to sacrifice, and when. But I actually think going through the game with infinite ammo can be pretty fun, in a different way.

In the end, I think people just have to justify cheating/using a cheat device to themselves, not to other people.

Cheat devices can be fun and sometimes they can be the only way to access certain parts in a game. Most notably in the Pokemon series.

For Pokemon I can understand cause if you missed an event that unlocks an area or a event only give out Pokemon and you use cheat device to get the event then I understand why you use the cheat device

I used one for the third generation of Pokemon after Nintendo cheated me out of exporting my GSC pokes and starting fresh....

And then I love the ones where you can do things unimaginable in the games , ala walking through walls and walking on anything like Jesus. Namely because I don't like whipping out a Pokemon every five seconds to do a singular task. And then there's the factor that I felt the DPPT gyms had gyms and Elite Four where they had distracting and rather annoying "puzzles" , though in the latter, it just made it quicker to fight the gym leaders and the four just as is.

And then there's the cloning thing. With GS, I used the game's mechanics that duped them or basically saved my starters into the box so I could get them all at once alongside other ones. I wished Nintendo would have allowed the function as an official feature but with twists.

I loved stealing other people's Pokemon lol because its never been done in a game.

For other games, I usually do it as-is unless in-game glitches and other exploits are found.

Edit: Just got a glitch in my Pokemon White 2 where my Garchomp got poisoned but it is not getting poison damage

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you supposed to access all Pokemon by trading?

Some pokemon are version-exclusive so those get traded between games (nowadays, via wi-fi). Others are special event pokemon that if you miss out then, you have to obtain those (which is again via wi-fi, nowadays) from somebody who does have said Pokemon.

Then again, it could be an Azure Flute situation in which everyone gets screwed.

I've used PokeSAV before , but for fabricating seemingly legit Pokemon I don't have the care to catch or for other experiments.

Just last night I finally convinced myself to get Skyrim for my PC and commence with the Mod obtaining. I don't feel it counts as cheating though since Bethesda gave the community the mean to create mods, just like they did with Oblivion. I've read (somewhere) that they love seeing the stuff the community comes up with, and man do they come up with some awsome stuff. Everything from simple patches to correct mistakes that Bethesda misses to huge quest lines and lore freindly gear. Of course some of the body mods are...interesting, but one particular has completely stunned me. It is a simple over all revamp of the facial feature that makes the character look more human. Now by human I mean more organic. They just look far more natural and I really like it. If I remember I will get a link for it so you can all see what I mean.

Then their are the Immersive Weapons and Armours sets, JaySuS Swords, and the Chrysamere quest which are all fantastic looking and very practical/lore friendly. So yeah...mods are awsome, though they could be considered cheats.
