Well, HLJ and some other sites stated that this won't effect them in anyway...still, I'm gonna send an e-mail to EX About this just in case.

This isn't about the Christmas rush! This is about a new rule set in Japan that packages > 1 lbs aren't going to be sent to the US by air. You'll have to take SAL by sea...

EDIT: Oh, I'm mistaken. I thought he was talking about the christmas rush. My bad. Just did a bit more looking around, and it's true: HLJ and others have licenses that enable them to ship out over air packages > 1 lbs. That's good. :3

EX Japan sent me an email, because I have some stuff coming in with them. They are currently working with the Japanese post office to secure a contract to allow them to send by air, and in order to do that, they need to send an investigator of some sort to calculate their shipping volume. According to them, their looking at about one month until they get that license.

They also stated that if the U.S. stops the embargo, shipping would immedietely continue as normal. So at most, they said that I'd have to wait about a month to get my stuff. They also said that they could check on FedEx shipping, and if that price wasn't too outrageous, they could still do that.

So we're not out of luck. It seems we just have to wait for our favorite stores and middlemen to go through this and have that contract. That's probably why HLJ still can ship. They probably already had a contract with the post office.

As long as their running a business of some kind, I think it'll pretty much be business as usual then.

Ah well I don't mind this too much since I'm waiting till january anyways. This is really bothersome though because this doesn't seem to help the bomb threat all that much.

I've heard differently from Amiami themselves. I was concerned too so I sent them an email. Here's what they said:

"Thank you for your mail.
Regarding new restriction for mailed goods to US:
Please note that it does not seem like it affects to our service.
As we had also heard the info we have contacted with Japan Post
and they said that that is for "unidentified mailing goods and parcels" and
as long as it shows the sender and the reciever's names and addresses
it would be no problem.

So please do not worry.
But one thing we concern is that it will be a busy holiday month for all of us
including postal system in December. Please read "Holiday Season Notices"
on the top page on our web-site.

We apologize for any worry caused and thank you again for your concern."

It's only for unidentified goods with no names on it.
