[J-DRAMA] New Live Action GTO - Talk UP!

Oh my god this show is soooo good. I mean it is kinda predictable but that is the point really in my mind GTO is the ultimate male power fantasy an this is just how I like it. I am on the edge of my seat every episode especially when that kick ass theme starts to play! In my mind I kinda like to think that Gentaro from Fourze when he grows up he becomes GTO because it is just so perfect. This might be my favourite series that started in 2012 anime included I have not seen everything yet but, man, GTO is so good. It really gets you in the right place.

I'm pretty much enjoying the series. And waynenorris, if you haven't, go watch the '98 adaption.

Only one thing I don't really like.

Why did they name the suicide classmate girl Nanako? When they combined Nanako (from the manga) with Anko in this adaption. I kinda wished they chose another name.

And....As someone has read and watch the manga, anime, and '98 live action

What the hell did they do to Kikuchi?! I mean, he's like one of first ones to become friends with Onizuka! At the end of ep 9, I thought they combined him with Sho, but they didn't. What the hell did they do with Kikuchi story?!

GTO 2012's aim was to be a little different from the manga/anime/98 version altogether, so yeah. it would be redundant if they kept everything the way it was from the originals right? ;)

Well it is and it is not. a lot of the stories are adaptations from the pretty recent GTO 14 Days in Shonan manga but it is really good about it. I for sure am the kind of person who does not think that all adaptations should just tell the same stories. Epically with something like GTO where you can just tell stories forever because there is always sad teenagers. This show is just super good at telling fell good GTO stories that kinda touch on beats of other ones.

Also I do wanna watch the 98 one but I am gonna wait till this one is over so I don't burn up all the GTO's at once. I think this is probably only gonna be 12 episodes long. I would love it to be a little longer but if it ends at 12 I will always remember it as one of the most fun shows I have seen in along time.

it ends at 11 and it airs tomorrow night. :) yeah, GTO 2012 was a fun ride! I've never seen the 98 version and tbh, I don't really care about it. never read the manga nor seen the anime either.

I don't mind differences from source to adaption, like what they did with how class 2-4 became the way they are. But, Kikuchi's like the brains of the group and supports Onizuka when he became his friend at the beginning. 2012's Kikuchi is starting to be like Sho (you'll get why when you see Sho's character in the finale,) which is the total opposite of his manga and anime counterpart.

Awww only 11...Oh well. It is still awesome. If you do like the show I would recommend the anime! It is pretty good. might be a little boring at first because it has to reintroduce some of the same character in similar ways. None the less it is still more of the same feel good attitude.

so... I'm currently watching the GTO anime (since reading the manga would take up a lot of time even with my reading speed) and I'm amused that the first episode is already about "smash that cold wall with a sledge hammer!" but as ShadowNeko mentioned, this was originally Nanako's backstory but was merged with Anko in the drama instead. currently on Episode 2 now and I can't wait for Anko/Noboru arc since Anko is my fave character in the drama!
