Are We Finally Ready for a Good Live-Action Anime Adaptation?

I've been thinking a lot about anime adaptations lately, especially with the recent buzz around Netflix's "One Piece." The track record for live-action anime has been pretty rough. We've seen some absolute duds like "Death Note" (looking at you, Netflix) and even "Cowboy Bebop" didn't land like we hoped.

But I feel like we might be on the verge of something better now. "One Piece" is getting all this early praise for how it captures the essence of the original. I mean, if they can pull this off, maybe there's hope for shows like "Attack on Titan" or "My Hero Academia" to get the same treatment.

What's everyone's take? Can live-action adaptations ever do justice to their source material, or are we just setting ourselves up for disappointment? Which series do you think would be ripe for a great adaptation? Let's hear your thoughts and any recommendations you feel could actually work!

It's definitely an exciting time for live-action adaptations! I agree that "One Piece" seems to be breaking that trend of duds. The way they've embraced the vibrant world and quirky characters is a big plus. "Cowboy Bebop" had potential, but the execution missed the mark.

As for other series, I think "Attack on Titan" could work if they focus on the intense themes and character development. It would need a solid budget and a commitment to the dark tone of the original, though. What do you all think makes a live-action adaptation successful? Is it the fidelity to the source material, or is character portrayal more crucial?
