Mystic Force: What's your expectation/hope?

But PRiS was still Saban, not a Disney PR series.

I hope they stick to the Wolzard/Magi storyline arc going on right now. We all know it's MagiPapa!.

I also hope James Gaylyn does Wolzard's voice acting (he did Zeltrax).

I think it would be kewl for PR is MagiMother and Wolzard were Red's parents or something. Or they are brothers that share the same mother or something. Would be kewl.

I love Zeltrax' voice but.. not for Wolzard. Hes probably going to have a human form which wouldnt explain the voice very well. Then, the voice has kind of been played out already. He did Zeltrax, Orange Head, now Banaag.

By the time we get to PR 2006, I would prefer a fresh, new voice.

I think I would like a more heart felt reason that Wolzard is evil. Perhaps he thinks what he is doing is right and that the Sorceress is doing is the right thing. It would be great if Wolzard could stay evil for at least past 10 episodes but Im not sure if the footage will allow, will it? Doesnt Wolzard turn good down the road in Magiranger?

Well, if previous PR seasons have turned evil rangers good long before their time...maybe (albeit against all odds) sometime (like, say, with Mystic Force) we could theoretically have a ranger who turned good in the Sentai analog, but remains evil in the PR series past that point?

More wishful thinking, I know, but it'd amount to roughly the same thing, I think.

Personally, my favorite characters are always evil characters who redeem themselves. So I don't mind if people turn good early.

I usually tend to agree with that. Vegeta and Picollo are my favorite DBZ characters and Shiten/Anubis was my favorite Samurai Trooper/Ronin Warrior. Heck, I'd even have to throw in Nightshade from C.O.P.S. up in that list.

But I usually only like it when it's done right. When it's someone that overcomes their own inner hatred or sorrow and then seeks redemption once they see the light. The inner turmoil that they overcome as they actually try to change their very philosophies that made them who they are is what makes these characters tick for me.

PR hasn't really pulled that off all that well as far as I'm concerned. At least when it comes to Rangers who are almost always under spells or brainwashed or something else like that. Sure they get the obligatory, "Oh I did bad things, I'm sorry for what I did." moments but it's rectified with a "But it wasn't really your fault, you were under a spell." card and that inner turmoil that I find so intriguing is absent.

Titanium Ranger was the worst one. Here was a guy who may or may not even be undead but in any event was raised by DEMONS since childhood because his father gave him up. (To save his life but he didn't know that.) Someone like that should have been seriously fucked up in the head and the well for great stories to come from someone like that was very deep indeed.

Yet instead we got Diabolico putting a spell on his mind to make him think his dad abandoned him. So after dad breaks the spell on his mind. We get the obligatory, "I'm a bad person. No your not, it wasn't your fault." episode and then whoopdedoo, the Titanium Ranger is a part of the team. To make up for it we get a lame cobra tattoo plot instead of much more interesting stories about Ryan trying rediscover his humanity and overcome his demonic upbringing.

So basically, I'm keeping fingers crossed that if Wolzard is destined to eventually join the side of the angels. That it's done well and that's actually a challenge for Wolzard to work as a good guy (again?). And that it's not a case of Branken or whomever putting a spell on him or telling him Magi Mother killed his parents or some crap like that.

Not for me. I don't like when Trent turned into good Ranger too early. This is only the one I was very disappointed. Meh.

I won't argue that redemption stories aren't good, but I will assert that's only the case when they're done WELL. I think the Trent thing was mishandled, generally; granted, I wasn't expecting things to go along the lines of Abarekiller, but I would have liked more depth. Redemption needs to be earned...not just kind of stumbled upon, in my opinion.

That said, I won't mind if Wolzard's PR analog isn't evil forever, but if he does convert, I want it to be done well. Granted, with Kalish on board for at least one more season, the odds of having a nicely-scripted Wolzard transition seems more likely than otherwise.
