Most Overrated / Annoying Sentai Ranger

Overrated characters
Naoto/Time Fire- For me he fits both the annoying and overrated category. He's just a total dick who doesn't change at all.

Gosei Knight- Ditto for Gosei Knight during the Yuumajuu arc. Afterwards he's just plain bland.

Luka/Gokai Yellow- Not annoying but a bit overrated IMO.

Annoying Characters
Naoto/Time Fire- As mentioned above.

Yousuke/HurricaneRed- It's mostly because of his acting. The only Hurricaneger character I don't like.

Hoji/DekaBlue- His professionalism was a little too over the top, especially the early episodes. I liked him better after the first 4 episodes.

Houka/MagiPink- They tried to make her cute, but her actress isn't cute at all. The whole match-maker/playgirl crap was even more annoying.

Jan/GekiRed- More likable in the second half, but in the first half he's way too extreme of a screaming red IMO.

Gosei Knight- The whole forced Green Aesop and "I'm the only one fit to defend the earth crap" from this guy is annoying

Gai/Gokai Silver- Sometimes he gets a little grating but not as bad as the others on my list.

Houka/MagiPink- They tried to make her cute, but her actress isn't cute at all. The whole match-maker/playgirl crap was even more annoying.

Houka is the absolute worst of the "ditzy girl" type that Toei kept trying to push during the mid-2000s. At least Natsuki had some kind of in-character excuse for her behaviour, and Umeko spoke normally and could sometimes be serious. Houka, however, did nothing but giggle and shriek and go "Houka-chaaaaaan!" for no reason, other than that she thought it was cute for an adult woman to act like a little girl (according to Toei the character was 21, not a teenager!) Then they kept doing things that made her look an absolute empty-headed moron, such as sitting on the back of Urara's broom to fix her makeup. Ugh.

I really don't understand why this guy is one of the two Goseiger characters anyone gives a **** about. He is quite literally a character that substitutes catchphrases for a personality, which makes him about as flat and dull as everyone else in Goseiger.

Because he has a more stern/serious front, so people think that makes him automatically a better character than the "childish" Goseigers

All the Goseigers do is sloganeering. I know it's a part of Sentai but, just watching the beginning and end of each arc, I see that almost all their dialogue amounts to that. It's their answer to every problem, and done in such a cheery way it's as though they're afraid the smallest of kiddies in the audience forgets what the show is about. If Nozomu said they were out of doughnuts the angels would make a speech about getting more because it was their sacred duty.

Every time I see GoseiKnight with his Leon Cellular I keep wondering what made Toei change its mind about casting an actor to play the character. Headder plot be damned, I want a seasoned angel who can never go home again.

I couldn't agree more here, and the dialogue in their sloganeering makes me want to pull my hair out. Other sentai have similar sloganeering like Dekaranger and Magiranger to an extent, but the dialogue and the acting is much better.

So you want the most painfully generic Sixth Ranger possible?

Having thought about it, I think one of the big things that makes GoseiKnight stand out is that he's probably the only non-transforming Extra Hero who ISN'T used mostly for Comedic Relief (or if he is involved in comedy he gets to play the Straight Man).

Look at his predecessors: Ninjaman, Ganmajin, Signalman, and Zuban. All of them are played off as being "the wacky one" to a degree (though to be fair to Signalman EVERYONE in Carranger is "the wacky one").

So even if his character is a little bland, you have a very distinct visual with a very distinct personality (compared to his predecessors at least) that I could see drawing people in.

Well that would depend on how you do it, doesn't it? I'm one who think Goseiger could have been a new Flashman if they had tweaked a few things. Knight could have been their example of what would happen if they failed to return to Gosei World in time. With the show as it was, sometimes they would work fast to rebuild the Tower (and this climaxes at the end of the Yuumaju arc) and other times they don't worry about it. One moment the heroes worry about being stuck on Earth and the rest of the time it's not an issue. They could stay on Earth forever as far as they're concerned.

I really don't see anything interesting about Knight as he was other than how he shared Brajira's views on humanity but yet would not join him.
