Zeon was wiped out...sorta. Zeon as a whole is done, but there's apparently enough of them left over to pull one last bit of shenanigans. As for the space fortress, I assume you're talking about the Gate of Zedan. That isn't a new fortress so much as it is taking the Federation's Luna II, Zeon's A Baoa Qu, and the Gryps colony and sort of putting them all together.

Zeta's ship mode is called Waverider Mode (no clue why they called it that) and yes, it is the first official Gundam to transform. What a precedent it set for Gundams to come.

Fed vs. Zeon owns. I'd also suggest getting Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam if you like it.

I think he's still on Earth, helping Karaba fight the good fight. Of course, this info comes from some fluff included in the instructions for a model kit and/or a debatably canon CGI short (which was itself a glorified ad for said model kit), so take it with a grain of salt.

Jerid got his fucking ass handed to him. Zeta/Kamille ended up killing Moura since the bitch took the blast for Jerid and that set the guy off. I got a feeling this feud between Kamille & Jerid is about to get ugly.

-Zeon is back and there is another Zabi child revealed. I see this is where Gundam Wing Endless Waltz got that storyline from which is cool.

-Four is now dead. I was hoping Zeta would go more into the Cyber Newtype and Psycho Gundam stuff, will ZZ or Victory Gundam get into that?.

Does ZZ & Victory have the same overall tone that 0070 & Zeta have?.

It's named after the real-life waverider design concept. A waverider is a hypersonic aircraft design that improves its supersonic lift-to-drag ratio by using the shock waves being generated by its own flight as a lifting surface.

There's still a bit more Cyber Newtype and Psycho Gundam stuff to see in Zeta, but it does show up again in ZZ. Victory also has some stuff involving Newtypes, but not quite like this.

Not exactly. The first half or so of ZZ's a comedy, bordering on parody at times, but the second half gets a lot more serious. Victory....well, let's just say that Victory's one of the reasons Tomino got his "kill 'em all" nickname.

These pictures don't do this figure any justice. I love this damn thing. My first Gundam purchase. I am waiting on Char's Gelgoog, and I can confirm that after seeing how incredible this looks I gotta buy Tallgeese III & Wing Zero.

It really is a shame that only 5 of these figures were released. I would have killed for more.

Let me put it this way:

There's a bit where Bright has to chase around wild chickens, a colony where the crew has to fight ninjas, and the first two main villains are very... flamboyant.

Basically, all attempts at realism are thrown up for those episodes. Stuff like Amuro running off with the Gundam wouldn't be met with more than a "Dang that lousy kid because I'm an old guy and old guys aren't cool," ...which is weird because, yeah, you get to the second half and there's this really strange shift in tone and focus that throws you more in the realm of normal Gundam.

I think of the biggest faults is that Tomino was so occupied with the Char's Counterattack movie and that Bandai absolutely wanted a third series, so he didn't quite care what happened and let people do whatever they wanted.
