Metroid Other M (spoilers) Reviews

It's Judgement Time!
So I'm reading that they turned Samus into an insecure girl who doesnt use her special godlike abilities unless 'Adam' tells her to. Because, you know, she likes being a subservient woman like that.

thoughts?

The only concrete thing I've heard for sure is that the unlock system for her weapons is "her commander tells her its okay to use this now" (even with the upgrade that PREVENTS HER FROM BURNING TO DEATH IN LAVA!).

I've heard an unsettling rumor that Samus' first reaction to seeing Riddly in this game (the same Riddly she's pwned every single time before) is to break down crying and to need rescuing by the male marines, but I have not seen anything to back it up or what the context of the scene might be.

Given Team Ninja's misogynistic tendencies, I can't say I'd be surprised if it's all true... disappointed as all hell that Nintendo didn't know better, or keep a tighter grip on the leash, but not surprised.

whats up with that anyway. what happened to the bounty hunter who conquered the Metroid homeworld and defeated a galactic pirate organization.

*Sigh* Looks like the "Samus whimpers like a little baby in the face of the dude she's beaten multiple times before" cut scene has been confirmed.

Way to let one of the main female characters in gaming get totally devalued, Nintendo. I am... disappointed in you. This is why you don't let TEAM FUCKING NINJA touch your ****.

Maybe the change in personality is because of the time this game is placed. I read (on Wiki, an unreliable, but so far my only source) that this game is placed between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion if that offers any sort of explanation. I don't play the Metroid series, so I don't know the significance of this that much.........but....

Samus is still sexy. =D

That's accurate I believe. But it doesnt help. By this timeline, Samus has gone through whatever she's gone through growing up, she conquered Zebes (defeating Ridley, Kraid, Mother Brain and a horde of pirates and creatures), conquered SR388 the Metroid homeworld and defeated the vrious evolutions of the metroids including the queen, and returned to Zebes to defeat Ridley, Kraid, and Mother Brain all over again!

She's defeated Ridley twice by the events of Other M and Team Ninja reduces her into a simpering little child. **** that ****.

More that they were either exaggerating or that the context of the scene (maybe it was a flashback to her youth and the first ever encounter she had with him) would explain it.

Unfortunately, that seems to not be the case.
