Man falls in love with video game character?

This guy's pics (having a drink with his pillow, riding home from work with his pillow) have been around since at least 2007.

The character Nemu is from Da Capo (which ex-fans now call Da Crapo), anime based on a game (yes, adult renai/H). Some fans of Da Capo think this guy is a looney BECAUSE he's got a thing for Nemu, pillow or no pillow. I won't go into details, browse if you wish:

Everyone's got likes and dislikes. It's when they start losing their grip on things that it's creepy. A guy who dresses up as a Toku hero at conventions is a fan, and while oddball (and usually the source of much jeering), that's Okay. A guy who wears his Toku suit on everyday, that's a different story.

Heck, I like some of the characters of that game--I have a figure of one of them. But Dakimakura (the abovementioned hug pillows) are pretty out there IMHO. Taking stuff like that out in public is even more out there.

I'm not an Otaku and I don't have such fantasies.

- Not being an otaku is fine. In fact, I often tell people you can like anime/games/tokusatsu/etc and not be an Otaku--simply take things in moderation, and realize that if someone thinks your hobby is stupid, live with it.

But you can't say you don't have some sort of fantasies about something. Wishing you had a Ferrari is a fantasy, so is wanting to take a ride on a sailboat. And guess what? Most people mock those fantasies too. But nearly everyone has them. A person who believes his fantasies are real is a loon, but a person with no fantasies or imagination at all...is an accountant.

okay, so I do have fantasies where I meet my idol, BoA but it's not like I fantasize about it 24/7 like I have nothing better to do.
crushing/falling in love with an Anime character is fine, but going to a certain extent of claiming he/she is your lover is just way beyond creepy.
scikaiju, not that Malaysia has Otakus or that sort of culture like Japan, I just don't like someone who is obsessed about something way too much.

It doesnt has to be over the top, like being delusional. When your diffrent because of something you like, you can also be considert an otaku.

Usualy Japanese will say "he/she is a bit of an Otaku" or "i am a bit of an otaku".
It doesnt mean your obsessed, you just like a certain thing and if you want you can take your time in your hobby.

There are many Otaku who doesnt fantasize about theire favourit characters its just they like spending their time doing their hobby, it still doesnt have to be obssesion. They Just enjoy doing it...

Yea, like some guys are into trains, therefor they would be "Densha Otaku" or a guy who loves Magic, "Magic Otaku."
