I'll quote what I wrote about this in another forum:

Then again, after some thought to it, I suppose it makes a little sense. Some people are so socially awkward that they could never be with a real person, boy or girl, they just don't know what to do in that sort of situation. A fictional character, no matter how awkward you are, will never abandon you and will always "love" you. Forget the sexual side of it, it kinda makes sense that these peopel would gravitate toward fictional characters.

Its still very unhealthy though. I can see where at one point in time I could have ended up like this, but I was lucky enough to have very honest friends who would tell me my flaws and show me that I had a natural charisma. It helped out a lot.

You gotta feel bad for these people.

one of my friends is one of those guys who...is in love with many video game characters lmao rather than being creeeped out I find it amusing and I laugh so hard when I'm at his house with his sister (his sister is the one sane and sexy one of the family) lol
